DefJefIt's also the hassle of setting everything up - I'd love to have a room I could just go and play and hit a switch to record everything. I haven't even got the patience for more than a couple of takes. The BR80 doesn't have wifi so it's a pain to connect it to a laptop and then convert ot to mp3.

How's this recorded marit ? I'm so glad I converted my 12 string into a 6 string Nashville tuning. My fingers didn't like landing on those parallel bars at all. And my picking hand really rebelled. Trouble is, deciding which holes and nut slots to use to get the best string spacing. It's not been as obvious as it first appeared. I decided to do an odd thing and record a cover using it and that cheap Suzuki Hummingbird. My plan was to slavishly copy the techniques of the original. Studying it hard on headphones I was amazed to discover a lot of things including that distinctly lop sided in one ear opening and lots of grunts and throat clearing in the opening intro. All of these I madly copied! Hope you like it. https%3A//soundcloud.com/defjef-973274447/wish-you-were-here-slavish-recreation-true-mixGreat job DefJef, where did you get the backing track?

So I decided to record a song with this gorgeously sounding guitar. It's Neil's song "Trasher", I think it's a beautiful track. My voice sounds a bit bored but that's how Neil does it too (good excuse, eh?). I tuned it to D with EJ-36 D'Addarios. Let me know what you think! https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/347134104Very beautiful, Marit! BTW, how much is the nut width of this guitar.

DefJef: ooooh that's very nice, the solo acoustic guitar came in real hard it was kind of a shock! Is that you singing? I love that raw voice and the British accent - I want more!!! dodger: it is, isn't it?! Thanks!

easyrider: it's a handful, 48mm! It's quite normal for a 12 string I think, but I would prefer it being a little smaller.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Glad it was OK for you easyrider . No backing track, I had to play it all (except the wind...and the radio voices!). I suppose I could strip it down into backing tracks with certain instruments muted for others to use. Thanks marit . I'm wondering if the version I slavishly copied is from one of those 'immersive' mixes that Floyd put out. I'd not noticed a lot of the details on my old vinyl copy and I hadn't remembered the hard right panning of the 'radio guitar' in the intro before, but I downloaded a version off YouTube and this is the way stuff was panned so I copied it that way. The intro guitar is deliberately low in the mix on the album because the previous track is supposed to sound as though it has been sucked into a radio, then there's the voices and then this tinny little 12 string before David coughs and sniffs and splutters and groans and then plays along. So I did all those things too. Madness. So, yes, the solo acoustic does come in surprisingly loud. As for the accent, as you know, I don't have one
