I'm looking at another Strat. I'm between the Squier Vintage mod HSS & Deluxe hotrail. Anyone got either of these? I love the warmth of my ST62 and she's great for overdriven blues but I just want something with a bit more snarl. Any advice?

Heading towards the Deluxe Hotrails I think.

As far as an HSS setup goes there are times when my Squier strats with their single coil bridges aren't right for solos and I switch to my HSS Pacifica instead. That bridge bucker is a great choice and I never really use it split. It is automatically split on the in between setting of middle and bridge so you don't lose THAT strat sound. Don't know if an HSS Squier does that. I guess it should.

Cheers for that @defjef. I've been sniffing around and found a good deal on the Deluxe Hotrail in the UK with free shipping by Tuesday. I've emailed Thomann to see if they'll do a price match but nothing back yet. I'm looking more at that one now after a bit of YouTube research. If I don't hear from them today I'll most likely pull the trigger on that one as stock is low.

I'm interested to hear what you think of those hotrails for a sound. I was looking at a bunch of cheap chinese hotrails and pondering whether to take the plunge as normally I'm not a humbucker fan. If they sound single coily but noise free they might be worth a pop.

I'm very close to pulling the trigger @defjef, a couple more Stella's and I'll probably go for it. No reply from Thomann but to be honest they've only got Olympic white where the UK shop is black which I prefer.

I did notice the very limited range of colours. You try 'em and then I'll stick some in a prettier colour.

@defjef, why? do guitars come in other than black or white? not valid as my surf green J&D will probably be going to part fund this. Can't risk waiting really papache, 6 in stock at £79 cheaper than Thomann, loyalty gone when I'm saving around a 1/3rd on the price.

Yes, I was hardly being fair as I also have a black and a white strat - I love the white one in particular......and the black one . Then again every time a car drives past me in a particularly tempting colour I will always bore whoever I am with by declaring, "Oooh, that would look nice on a guitar." I'm clearly too far gone.

Not true @defjef, I'm the same mate. Every black or white car that passes gets the same comment from me. I've not seen a car yet in satin oiled red wood.
