All that gym work and now nobody to see it. How long's the wait going to be @bikerboy? That guitar matched with the Bugera should be a lovely sounding thing. Do you have an HB strat to compare it to?

Should be here Thursday. I also told her about it and the bruises are almost healed. She was pretty cool about it. Than again when the CC bill comes I'll have to come clean about the amp.

No HB strat only because lefty selection not to good. The ST-20 is only option. My HBs are SC-450 HB and a CST-24T love them both. I have a Squire Affinity Strat now. Nice enough but after playing a real strat a few months ago been wanting one bad. At $407 for open box couldn't pass it up.

I'm really interested in how you feel the proper strat compares with the Affinity. It's a bit of an unfair comparison I suppose because of the Affinity's body thickness. I have an Affinity and know the ceramic pups sound cheap, but I really like the maple board (nicely edge rounded) and the trem. I like less the plastic cladding on the body. I assume there's some wood inside but it seems buried deep inside the poly coating. I get quite baffled by the Fender strat range. Is a Standard Strat different to an American Standard? I was expecting to see a two-point trem on yours but no, it was vintage style so, presumably, that makes it different to an American Standard.

The good thing is all parts with a made in Mexico and American made are interchangeable. You can pretty much make a American for a lot less than the $7 or $800 difference in price. In my case $900 or more cheaper.

Professional ones - especially jag/jazz ones - doesn't seems a great innovation but (my personal opinion) a way to delete the idea of Pawn Shop ones.. made in Mexico (or the modern series made in China). Simply marketing.

@defjef it really depends on when the affinity is made tho i felt some newer squier models recently ... and i HATE that sticky, plasticky neck for some reason my 7? (damn, i had that axe for a while doing NOTHING, lol) year old affinity strat has a neck finish which feels perfect to me - clear, feels satin, non-sticky pleasure <3
thinking about pulling the trigger on a ST-62 since i ABSOLUTELY love strat sounds. used to hate the sound of the neck pickups, but the glassy fender-/voxy preset i made on my katana makes it sing, oh my word
