Hi all,
I received this guitar by Thomann last week.
The guitar´s finish is beautiful, but the upper 3 strings cause a buzz when played on virtually any fret. Mind, it is not the frets that are buzzing, instead it seems to be coming from the bridge side or perhaps even from within the guitar.
Apart from that, I feel a bit underwhelmed from the tone considering it is an all solid guitar.
Although the high strings have great sustain, there seems to be very Little bass to the guitars sound.
The guitar comes with high class strings, the dadarrio exp-16, but I am not impressed.
I must also comment that the strings seem to detune quite often for Steel string guitar and I have my qualms with the in-built tuner which does not seem all that reliable
I have ordered the cld-41 (which is not all solid) for comparison reasons. In any case I plan to send the 30scm back because of the buzzing issue, but I am wondering why the reviews of this guitar compare its tone to guitars triple its price and also comment on its rich, bassy tone..
Any comments?

I've had that buzzing before on acoustic guitars with inbuilt pickups and I know it can be incredibly annoying. It seems to be that certain note frequencies set off a resonance within the guitar. I had to take apart an Ibanez nylon strung guitar with just this problem and traced it to the internal pickup cables vibrating against the body. Loads of padding and gaffa tape solved that one. You may also have a slightly loose brace somewhere and that could also account for the poor bass performance, especially if you don't put it down to the strings. Sounds like you MAY have this year's first Christmas turkey. What a huge disappointment. Thanks for the reply. The CLD-41 arrives on Tuesday which will allow me to do a head to head comparison against the 30scm. The strings used for both are the exp-16 so the comparison should be valid enough.
What you are describing makes quite a lot of sense to me. I too feel it has to do with the pickups.. I don´t know if this has anything to do with it but the quality check label was missing some stamps (all good on the action side, but on the reverse some stamps were missing).
I was also looking at a Fender jumbo (www.thomann.de/gb/fender_cd290sce.htm) which compared to all other guitars I tried had a truly distinctive bass sound (sounded far better imo than ej-200ce).
I love to play bossa nova and adore that bassy soft sound on that Fender. I hope the CLD-41 can compete as its €130 cheaper, otherwise I might end up returning both

I think you'll be quite pleased by the CLD-41SE if all is good

I experienced battery compartment buzz in one guitar and something under the bridge buzzing. Both HB. I'm still deciding if I'm to pull the trigger and get a HB acoustic for my b-day in January. Pondering ...

Hi, valkyr3003! I had almost the same issues with my CLD-41 whitch is intonation problems and poor bass area. Unreliable tuner too. I must have the worst luck. Just received the CLD-41 after I send back the 30scm-ce. Same buzz problem!! The problem occurs at the same note frequency too - always aroud the E. This time it sounds more like the bridge buzzing rather than coming from within the guitar. On the other hand, the strings were entirely new this time and the guitar really sang (if we ignore the buzzing). It´s difficult to compare its sound to the 30scm-ce considering the latters strings are a far cry from the ring of new strings. However, I definitely note that the neck is more comfy and playable in the cld-41 (2mm less in width) and the guitar in general seems to be "softer" in comparison to its rougher counterpart. Aesthetically, the 30scm is a winner. I love its classical, minimalist design and beautiful solid woods. The cld-41 on the other hand almost gives me a slightly tacky feel, not a huge fan of it physically tbh. The tuner is.. bleh. Seriously not a fan of this tuner whatsoever!!

I think I will get me a HB acoustic without a pickup/battery compartment/wires. I will mike my Guitar for recording instead. I anyway find miked acoustic to sound far better than piezo pickups into audio interface. Piezo has that zingy sound which I dislike.

My piezo equipped CLD -41SE sounds great through a mixer/speaker PA setup with some EQ tweaking. But through a proper recording mic it sounds unbelievable - probably why all the youtube video sound so good...

valkyr3003: did you end up fixing the buzzing issues on the CLD-41 or did you return it? Was it the one with electronics or without? It's a shame you had bad luck on your 2 HB's. The acoustics normally are really good quality. I'm just wondering what this CLD-30SCM(-CE) (what a name) is trying to be? It's not a Martin D-30 because that does not exist. It must be a Gibson or something? It's got quite interesting specs with the solid cedar top. Too bad the reviews for the "CE" version really aren't too good. If they made an all solid spruce topped rosewood version I would be all over it! Supposedly all solid is the best thing for an acoustic?
