Disclosures: Everything I don't like I can modify.

This one arrived today. Mine is the lefthanded version, but I don't think that besides being lefty there will be any major differences with the righty ones. There is minimal hump in the fingerboard between fret 10 and 17, in this same area there are also some high frets, there are also quiet a few sharp fret ends. Maybe the bridge nut is too low, but I can only be certain of that once I've fixed the fingerboard. In principle there are no problems I can't fix! For the rest the bass looks nice, it tunes up okay, haven't tested the electronics yet. In a lot of reviews people are mentioning these basses are big, I think they are exaggerating!! My old Eko BA4 is BIG! I'll bring more updates once I'm starting to fix this thing.

Plugged it in and the electronics work, preamp sounds nice, lots of sound possibilities there.
Did some more thorough checking on the hump and high frets, major pain at the moment is the 12th fret, I know where I need to start with leveling the frets.

Glad you got it blablas.
If anybody can sort the neck hump it's your good self.

I'm not complaining, for the 45 euros I paid for it I got a hell of lot of bass for my money. I think I've got the hump leveled down enough, I'll do some more playing and testing later on tonight, if I'm happy with the current result I'm going to crown and polish the frets tomorrow.

I have the fretless RH version. I really like the sound of it with the Fender flats I have on it. Happy NBD.

Finished. Removed the sharp fret ends and gave the frets one final level session, crowned and polished the frets. Also put a shim of half millimeter thickness under the bridge saddle, as I already suspected it was set up too low, while I was busy I gave the nut some tweaking as well. Another thing I needed to do was tightening all the tuner screws and nuts, they were all loose. Put a set of D'addario ETB92 Nylon Tape Wound strings and a 'de afwerking' thumbrest on it and gave it a final setup. It's Alive! The action is a little under two millimeters at the 12th fret, precisely what I like. Final verdict on this bass - Given the fact I bought this bass as a 'Deko' for only 45 euros I can't really complain it needed some TLC. Made a few more pictures of this one and my Eko together for an even better size comparison (and just because I can ).

I am de afwerking (or to be more correct, the things I make are done under that name). I'll make more detailed pictures of it tomorrow. 'de afwerking' is a Dutch expression and roughly translates into 'the finishing touch'.

It's piece of round Plexiglas (30 mm diameter) from which I took of material at several places, this shape is what is left in the end. It is fixed to the body with clear double-sided tape.

Handy wee thumb rest.
When I said the expression out loud it made sense.

Those nylon strings, do they buzz less than the metal ones? Are they all nylon? Must be a very plasticy sound? But the preamp can probably make some interesting sounds especially if some extra pedals are used no?

@che The nylon flatwounds cut down on string noise, like the dragging sound you get if not playing cleanly. They don't sound plastic, just deeper with more thud behind them. I bought my first set of Rotosound nylons back in 83 and have had a set ever since, you'd be right thinking I like the tone

So if I understand correctly they are still made of steel but wounded with some nylon tape right? These can be used on an electrical bass as well no?

Those nylon strings cost 39 Euros !!! ***! linkYes, changing bass strings can be a very expansive hobby. So if I understand correctly they are still made of steel but wounded with some nylon tape right? These can be used on an electrical bass as well no? They have got a steel core and can be used on a electric bass. They are a bit of an acquired taste, I once used them on a fretless electric and after only a couple of weeks took them off again, they were so incredible dull and dead sounding I just could not get used the sound they gave me, however on this acoustic bass they just sound perfect.
