Interesting MartinB. That's your bog-standard EverReady torch battery. Sort of everyday low-drain usage, whereas I was getting best results from alkaline Duracells. I guess they are also low drain types. Maybe rechargeables are better for high drain devices?

My vape uses Lithium batteries and they certainly are for high drain. I have no idea why they say Carbon Zinc are best, and have no idea whether someone in a live situation could hear the difference between battery types and some PSU.

Live just about anything goes as long as there's not too much ground level hiss. The rechargeable battery would be totally unacceptable for instance - the sound guy would never put up with it. I have used the American Sound as an amp sim direct to the PA at a gig. It made me nervous but it worked. I couldn't risk a 9v battery then. It felt like everything would be hanging by a silken thread.

To be honest, the only pedals I have batteries in are the Tuner and the G1on for when practicing through headphones with the Uke.

Here is a quick and compact pedalboard I just put together for a reggae/dub project.

Two and a half months since my previous update, not much happened in that period of time. Only thing I did was swap positions between the EarthQauker Devices Afterneath and Ghost Echo. Today I finally added a new pedal, a Darkglass Microtubes X, the Chowny Fuzzster had to make way for this one. De EQD Westwood into the microtubes X is monstrous!! The X is a completely different beast when compared with the AOm.

Finally another update on my board, It's been a while. What has changed? - EQD GhostEcho is placed further down the chain, this gives the best result before all the modulation effects. - Modified the layout on the small board. - Two new power supplies under the hood. Harley Benton ISO-1 Pro and ISO-2 Pro. The ISO-2 was chosen due to the need for 12 Volt with the Two Notes LeBass and the DG Microtubes X. - Thanks to these new power supplies I could ditch a HB Junior and a few wall warts. Each pedal has its own power socket now - no more fiddling with daisy chains. - Two new mini pedals, HoTone EKO en Tape EKO. - TC Fluorescence back from pseudo retirement. - A few new cables here and there. - Some Rockboard light dampening caps for the pedals that have a spotlight for the on/off indication (all Earthquaker Devices and the MXR Envelope).

I too have some special light dampening stuff on my pedals BTW, this is my main and only pedal board; CKK Lunar Drive (based on Dumble), CKK Gear Compressor (based on Ross compressor), CKK Frogman (based on Fender tremolo), MOOER Twin Re-echo delay and Fender Marine Layer Reverb. Harley Benton patch cables and Harley Benton ISO-2 Power Supply under the Harley Benton 50 pedal board

I'm a 'blob of blu tac' guy. I like to make a little baffle that reflects the 'spotlight' towards the knobs and away from my retinas. Hate that headlight dazzle that makes me know there is a pedal there but I just can't find it. Mind you, I have been known to end up with the blu tac on the bottom of my shoes.

The solution I chose is a lot more elegant than a piece of blue tape.

Time for another update. Moved a few pedals around, removed the Joyo compressor, added a tc electronic 3RD Dimension chorus and reinstated the Boss tremolo instead of the CKK electronics tremolo. Yellow switch caps before and after the noise gate, the black ones are in the noise gate FX loop... Not really a necessary or useful update, done just because I can.

What are you using for a compressor now?

Boss BC-1X at the end of the stuff that's in the noise gate FX loop, in my opinion modulation and echo FX don't need compression.
