How silly. Wonder why the level is so low. Very dopey. Dunno really. I should experiment - maybe the level is reasonable if you run it at high gain through the 'brown' channel. All these amps seem to have one eye on the high-gain shreddy crowd. i suppose that's where the market is.

Makes a bit of sense although you'd think they'd give enough level for lower gain and you'd just turn it down for the shred-mongers.

If you have any footswitches you should hook them up to the Katana to see if they work. It only requires a simple 'latching' switch - or even better a 2 button one will work to switch between bank A and B presets also. Momentary switches will not work.
Luckily I just found out the single button footswitch that came with my Vaporizer works perfectly with the Katana.

Hey salteedog or MartinB , do you find that little prop under the amp to be a complete something of nothing? Mine is ridiculously fiddly to open, easily falls flat again and isn't really long enough to angle the amp enough. I fixed a spring loaded trunk handle to the bottom of my Blackstar and it's a much better and easier to use system. The Laney has something similar I think.

Yup - I've found it kind of useless. It pinched my finger too Perhaps on stage it offers a useful angle for a guitarist who is standing a few yards away.

It doesn't really angle enough for that. It makes no sense at all and is a right faff to engage especially if you've got a guitar in one hand and you don't want to lie the amp on its kettle lead. That little thumb screw is really odd.

I'm patiently waiting to hear you play this amp both miked and direct!

I'll probably use it if I get to do some guitar on Damascus and if I can figure out how easy direct recording is.

I used a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack to record using my Katana iirc.
And the little peg thing was useless, had to get a pair of pliers to unlock it and then it wouldn't reliably keep it tilted.

Oh right MartinB so not the USB for direct recording? I used usb to record directly into the pc. Handy enough. If I get a chance I'll hook it up again this weekend.

Thanks saltee. I'm guessing a driver will be needed but I'm just wondering how easily my DAW will find it.

Thanks saltee. I'm guessing a driver will be needed but I'm just wondering how easily my DAW will find it. It uses standard asio drivers. The only complication was the monitoring. I think it needs to be via headphones plugged into the amp. I f I get a chance to try it this morning after kids football training and before lunch I will.

Having read this thread - recording via Katana's usb - I'm starting to think me and Boss have a very different understanding of the notion of 'user friendly'. It's starting to look like the MartinB method or my preferred 'mic it up' one unless you discover differently salteedog ! Are these software people insane? Just asking.

My mistake...there is a separate Katana driver. You need to select it in your DAW inputs. I just hooked up the Kat to the Laptop and laid down a quick track over Damascus. Honestly it's easy enough. Main difficulty is the Katana output level is low. Need to figure out how to adjust that. For a laff maybe I should post the travesty that I've made of our song.
