DefJef: hmm, how about this for your cutaway/Hummingbird needs then.... www.thomann.de/nl/epiphone_hummingbird_performer_pro_fcb.htmPity there's no sound clips, ah well you'll just have to order it and see what it's like. dodger: that's a good point I was thinking about too. All these HBs feature the same pickup system, so will plugging in any of these differ much anyway. That's interesting you preferred the HB over the Martin, when are you getting back from the US? I thought you were doubting still between 2 HB models as well?

marit . I'm completely Hummingbirded up with my Suzuki and loathe piezos. I realise they have their place in a seriously amped environment to avoid feedback but I always opt for a telecaster by that stage anyway. At home it's mike or soundhole pickup for me. Hmm so you're still happy with your Suzuki? Great... What did you end up doing with those bridge pins and choice of gauge?

So I'm just reading about these acoustic pickups, there's the soundhole pickup, soundboard transducers and undersaddle transducers. Which one is the Fishman Isys preamps system in our HBs? I'm reading up on these, and I think they are the soundboard transducers, but I can't find a confirmation, not even on Fishmans official website!

If u look inside sound hole, if it's under saddle you will just be able to see the wire going to the preamp/tuner

My CLA28VE has just better intonation and more comfortable neck and probably rings more shiny. Maybe my CLD41 is just unlucky exemplare...I bought it as a B-stock.

marit - ours have a piezo under the saddle - next time you change the strings lift it up snd there should be a wire with some sort of crystals in it. I haven't checked mine but did install a similar one on my J200 copy

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

I took the bottom E and A ones out and have left the others in at the moment. Still using the electric guitar strings that came on it at the moment 'cos I like the feel but I did order some super light acoustic ones for when I finally get the urge. Think I'll probably replace the tuners with something more stable and more Hummingbird like. They are nasty...like chocolate buttons and looser than cod liver oil.

dodger and kwis: thanks for the explanation, did not know that! easyrider: hmm alright, I guess with these cheap guitars it can be a bit hit and miss, although the acoustics are definitely a step up from the electrics, quality, setup and sound wise. DefJef: I see! Do you know what gauges are on there? There's a thingy that can measure them. Or are you sure they're extra lights cos they are electric strings?

DefJef - I love the tuners on my Epiphone EJ160e - they're the vintage looking pale green ones - definitely have that 50s or 60s appearance. They are stable as well apart from the cosmetics.

DefJefAye they are sound; I quite like the appearance but then the enlongated Epi headstock lends itself to the goofy ears!
