Absolute beaut - I love when one of the pieces is slightly darker. You will notice on high end guitars (nearly always 2 pieces) that they are well matched but sometimes one is darker.
My CLD41 has one slightly darker

What a beauty Neil's is too. And he can make it sing. I love hus acoustic playing and he has the best sounding Martins around.

And indeed Neil's is gorgeous, it's a 1941 D-28, supposedly it first belonged to Hank Williams but some say that's not actually the case. Or perhaps it belonged to Hank but he never actually played it because he had so many guitars.

So I've just compared the sound to the CLD-41SE, it's not much but that one does seem a bit more refined and sparkly. Nevertheless, I've had that one for over a year now, plus it has reasonably new Dean Markley BlueSteels on it, that also add a bit of sparkle. The CLD-28SCE has coated D'Addario strings, and I never liked those much on the 41 either so let's see how much that improves the sound and also overtime of course. Overall very happy with it!

That's a beauty, marit!
I wonder why Thomann isn't offering the CLD-28S anymore, I'd probably get one. I don't need a cutaway nor electronics, just would like a poor man's D-28.

spadearcher: true, I remember they used to have that one! You can get the CLD-41S, or perhaps the 28 will come back to their assortment. Things come and go at random from time to time. BTW I changed the strings on it to Dean Markley Blue Steels which has greatly improved the sound, the stock once were dull. It's got the same strings on now that are on my CLD-41SE, those are on for a while and don't sparkle as much anymore, still the sound is different. The CLD-41SE is very warm and soft, suffisticated in a way. The CLD-28SE is louder, responds better to louder strumming but isn't so smooth. This might even out as the strings age and I've played the guitar a bit more in the months to come.

You know that QC card, marit ? Is that supposed to be showing the string action over the 1st and 14th frets? And if so did it have that action when it arrived or is that what they recommend when you've set it up? The action looks loads higher than 2.5mm in your photo, although I realise the pic isn't to scale! The action is similarly high on my other HB guitars, I figured it should be good and it plays well. I've tried to measure but I don't have the right tools and it's hard to tell

That's what I did this very morning, CLD-41S on the way! I still like the D-28 looks better, but I don't like cutaways on Dreadnoughts. Hope the 41 lives up to expectations tone wise, I already have both the 000-15M and D-15M HB knockoffs and really like their tones, especially the 000. What a great versatile guitar.

I don't mean to tease you, but the CLD-28S is back in Thomanns assortment... www.thomann.de/nl/harley_benton_custom_line_cld_28s.htmIt does have an awful headstock...

Marit, you are damn right, ESP-16 are the best strings for CLD-41 and you can never compare these with Dean Markley. Altough they are hard to play, they got beautiest sound of the world. You influenced me to make my decision to give it to go for CLD-30. I made my order yesterday and soon is the NGD for me too. I kept the eye on it for two years. I'm glad you are happy with your new guitar.
