They need to be full range speakers for modelling amps in order for it to not colour the specially eq'd models. It's particularly important if the amp has acoustic modelling but clearly still holds true when modelling any amp.

The Eminence speaker arrived in Denmark and will be delievered to me on Monday. Need to unsolder the Bugera speaker connection as it is soldered for some unknown reason why would they do that nonsense!!! Those connectors are rather tight and can not just fall off!!!

Good luck with this desoldering! It just doesnt want to release as those "clips" are already holding strong even without the solder. I even tried to suck up as much solder with the solder pump but there is always some left behind and taking those clips off is just impossible. Also Im risking desoldering the cone wires from the terminal if I continue heating it! I will need to find two new clips and cut these off!

Can you grab the spade clips with pliers as you heat the solder so it is perfectly runny as you pull?
I agree that some of these clips are stupidly tight anyway. I like to relax them just a bit so they are not so painful to yank off.

Just cut them off, no one will ever notice the cable is 1 cm shorter.

I like to relax them just a bit so they are not so painful to yank off. Tried that and I run risk of pulling off the entire board/terminal! It was stupid to solder these in the first place! Will cut them off! I hope my neighbour has a few spare clips for this project as I have none (looked into my tool /screw etc box)

Got the speaker this morning! Here you can see the size difference between the Bugera and Eminence JS-1250 Bugera left - Eminence right Still early days to say somthing meaningful as this brand spanking new speaker sounds a bit "hard" and will need some time to loosen up a bit.

I'll be interested to hear how 'beamy' it is. Focused sound directly in front or plenty of spread. I noticed a bit of beaming the other day with the Turbosound. Nothing like as dreadful as the Katana was but still enough for me to think about the donut trick again. And that's with the amp at about waist height around 5 feet behind me. Many stages don't allow for much more distance. It's very annoying to set a perfect sound for my ears, only to realise it is piercing for somebody further away and in the focus of the speaker. It means I have to get someone else to play my guitar whilst I go and check what the audience is hearing. Get that nice for them and I hear wool on stage.
Don't really want to mic it and then need foldback monitors so we all hear the same. May need raise the amp even higher, or tilt it, or else it's donut time again!

Just tested the "beamy-ness" as I never really thought about it not even with the Bugera speaker. Right infront of it it is the most foucused but not harsh. It spreads to about 45 degrees and then looses on the "hi-fi-ness" and maybe volume but still its very clear and no such thing as muddyness at all. Actually I usually sit to the right side of the amp, and the angle is about 25-30 deg. This should make it sound muddy but this was never the case not even with my Bug speaker! Maybe something to do with the large cabinet?
In any case you can count on 45 degress spread with very good focus and "hi-fi-ness". But even Bonamassa uses those plexi-glass shields to get an even spread so even drummer can hear you the same way bassist and audience does.

45 degrees is fine if it's sounding the same there as directly in front. Not the case with my Bugera. I've not used a protractor on it but I'd say there is about a 10 to 15 degree zone for full frequency (up or down, left or right), wider than that and there's a loss of the ice picky tops. So I happily play away standing to the left and above not realising that my lovely sound needs the top rolling off. It's a nuisance. I think it may be donut time.
You found some replacement connectors then?

Yes my neighbor had a few connectors I could use.
It's normal to get most of the sound 0-15 degrees. All amps will be the same in this regard. I have listened to Chappers and Captn talking about it. What I want is not much change in EQ like muddyness.
Ok. I see I've made a mistake above; I usually play 70-80 degrees from the center of the amp. But I EQ it while standing infront of it. Here you see that the EQ has not changed even if I sit 70-80 deg from the center. The only thing that changes is presence and volume as one is not being hit by the sound wave directly.
I EQ so there is no ice pickiness.

I would have called a change in presence a change in eq. What's the difference to your ears? Maybe it's just presence I'm talking about rather than eq. Whatever it is, it's different for me and the audience and I need to find a happy solution.
Maybe rolling my presence control down is all it'll take although, to me, that is taking away the top that I'm enjoying! Ah well, who said you were supposed to enjoy your own sound on stage? It's rarely happened for me!

When I played rehearsals all I desired was to be heard I was not fussing about tone at all. Just flick to bridge pup and up that treble

I want to hear me but not terrify the audience with more treble from me bridge pup, especially as they seem to be getting more than enough already! I'll be toying with my mids and presence next rehearsal. Hywel's ears will thank me. Also I'll be able to tell him I can hear quite enough of his Peavey amp too and knock his trebs back!
