For all you Strat and Jaguar lovers out there, why, why, why is this a good idea? I like both guitars for their own merits, but this blend seems to be like a punch in the nose.
I can see a "home brew" version of this, but why, why, why would Fender do this?

No idea, I think a lot of these alternative universe mix ups are mis hits. And way too expensive, I much preferred the Squier pawnshop guitars, more to my taste and cheaper.

It is a good idea because we are offered an alternative to the regular Stratocaster and Jaguar model. This one has the longer Strat type scale length of 25.5" with Jaguar body features. Limited Edition but you can bet if the demand is high there will be a similar model forthcoming (with a slightly different switch tip).
They do things like this because their market research suggests that they may be able to sell sufficient in number to return a profit.
Maybe you will prefer this Strat-Tele Hybrid?

The modding game and neck swaps is pretty big I imagine. Looks like Fender are taking notes. The Stat-tele looks more appealing to me also. We could all still be using Fender Champs but things evolve

Not to my liking but then I don't really like strats. Those whammy bar things are a no no to me on any guitar. But then Hank Marvin made a few quid out of them. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!!

3 Jag pups in a Jag may have been a better choice I suppose but hey it's got a tremelo so it's a thumbs up from me but as salteedog says 2 grand's a bit steep so all we can do is hope Squier or the Mexico plant supply the great unwashed in the near future 😁. Incidentally I've also hankered for these two oddballs in the past also.

blindwilly3fingers it's an Eastwood reproduction of the 1960s Italian made Wandre. I'm not so keen on it nowadays thankfully but I still hold a candle for the Burns Marquee now and again.
