I took this HB Dynamic for a spin last night. Rehearsed with my drummer and this I conclude;
This rehearsal room is very cheap hence they only have Roland Cube 80, an amp that doesnt sound that great in my opinion but last time I played it with my TE-70BP with Ironstone pups it sounded ok.
These HAF Roswells sounded lifeless. Sure they play and play ww did but there was no magic in that tone what so ever. Nothing inspiring! If this guitar is to be a killer sounding axe I will need to look into some decent pups for it. Im confident in DiMarzio and I like what I read about the low output Air Classics. Will likely get both.

You liked the Roswell LAFs. Since many on this forum seem to like taking theirs out isn't there anyone here with a spare set of those to sell to you? What was the single coil like? And what is that? Yeah, I know I mentioned those LAF's but truth be told I dont "remember" them any more. I remember the Wilkinson P90's still , the once I had in my old TE-90QM but I dont really remember those LAF I mentioned before. They must have been good enough but I need GREAT for this axe. I need some good pups and some good pups I will get. BTW, I have got the free return from Thomann and the package is on its way bcak to Germany. They promissed a full refund and no fuss.

Just received the notification from thomann that they have received the returned Replacement Dynamic HSH today. Now its time to get my full refund. This might take a day or two or three or four ...

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Got the full refund and got to keep the first guitar for free.
The more I play this guitar the less I feel like investing more money into better pickups. I played unplugged a lot also and it generally sounds thin. Could it be those Almunium Saddles? Or the swimming pool cavity giving off semi-hollow sound?
I have removed the Retainer Bar and now it stays really well in tune. Im yet to see if I even need those string trees I've bought for it.
Maybe I should only buy one DiMarzio 36th PAF bridge (fantastic reviews) and test with it. If I get an inspiering tone then invest onto a Neck and even Middle pups. In case Im still not happy with the tone of this guitar, sell it and buy another Humbucker guitar where I can use this PAF, so no money spilled. Shame really that Tony Ironstone doesnt make low output Humbuckers!
Im yet to remove the neck again to really check bottom of the neck heeland see if it really has that tiny bump in the middle of it or not. Need a very streight tool for it. If it is there I will need to shim it a bit on that side. So far I can't feel anything while playing as it sustains and resonates well.

Trust me , we can't talk about Humbuckers unless we have tried some brands we know are well tested. Here I speak of DiMarzio and Duncan. Do you remember my Peavey Bandit story and why i sold it? I just couldn't make that amp sound good with my China Alnico single coils so I decided to sell it (I never questioned the pups, only blamed the amp). The guy came to test it with his Humbucker guitar loaded with Seymour Duncan and man that Peavey Bandit just sounded so good! Any way the guy was happy to buy it and I was happy to have discovered that Pickups matter. We can not talk about Humbuckers in General as they are not the same. Thats why I wanted to test a DiMarzio PAF in this axe but wonder if Im to keep this one or just sell it and get something else, maybe the Vinatge Mod Squier with Wide Range Humbuckers. But true that, I really feel happy when I lay down this Dynamic and pick up my TE-70BP after wards! So much dynamics, so much sweet creaminess

DefJef important to say is that your Aria buckers do sound much darker (if memory serves me well) and wollier than these Roswells! I can understand why you cant bond with that Aria of yours. I hate that wooly mud tone (very similar to my old L-450Plus). These Roswell HAF are VERY open very trebly, too thin but they do have presence without that wooliness. They seem like buckers wanting to be P90's but lack all that dynamics.

They are simply overwound : that give them a big presence that makes you believe they sound gound a first glance. But when you hapen to compare them to better pups, you realise that they lack the soul that makes an instrument bieng a .... musical instrument

Iirc a lot of the new Fender/squier guitars with Wide Range HBs just have standard HBs in a Wide Range casing. Thats what I've read someplace aslo and what worries me as to find a replacement would be expensive. I think I should focus on mini rail humbuckers from DiMarzio like Chopper T, as they seem to preserve the single-coilness and have humcanceling and when in Series with the Neck they are beefy too. Need me a nice Tele for modding ...

I'd recommend getting a DIY kit, I was really happy with mine, although if you want a decent painted finish you might be better off just getting an off the peg number.
