Ok, I give up my GAS is gone from exploding to imploading!!! Im looking at tube amps again! I have a good clean amp Bugera V55 with 6L6 so Im sorted on that front but I do miss having some raw gritty amp and there are a few out there but am still deciding which to buy. Im getting a brand new amp as I need the 30 day money back guarantee and would very much enjoy having 3 year warranty for it! The V55 has a 12" so maybe a 10" amp would be nice and they say Laney CUB 10 is based on the Fender Tweed era of amps with 6V6's. Has Celestion 10" in it but folks get nicer tone with Jensen Alnico 10" (79 Eur at Thomann). Or the Laney CUB 12R as it could be my back up amp for smaller gigs in case I ever get to gig that is (my band broke down to bits a pieces). Well, I guess I could always buy an external cab with 12" if I need it for smaller gigs (its a valid option as someone on the forum here gigs with the CUB 10 by using a H&K 12" cab) Now ... Im even considering to get the B-stock EGNATER Tweaker 112 combo! Not sure I will like it though as its tone might be too polished ... or not? It also has EL84's and I think aslo has a Celestion but 12". Whats going on people???!!! Must be this X-mass craze already kickin in! Or maybe the days are so bloody short and one needs more activities indoors! Any who, try and help me anyway you can; either on deciding which one to get or by telling me to stop buying gear!

It’s a tough one Che, I would have said to try the Egnater as they have an excellent rep and so many options for tweaking.

Tweaker seems a bit modern in atitude. I was checking all the Egnater demos and reviews but it is a lot of money still. I need some cash to mod me HB Dynamic if I decide to keep it. Any who, I will be reviewing the CUB 10 soon

I do read a few revews complaining about these CUB amps dying after a while but these reviews seem older. Could be one of the first batches and issue was rectified by Laney afterwards. But I aslo read a review where his Laney Cub10 died after 3 years and still he bought a new one as the Tone is to die for (he thinks better than Fender Blues Jr and mentioned some other known amps mush dearer than CUBs). Also read some liking the CUB 10 more than the CUB 12.
Im really looking forward to trying this one out! I plann to record guitar into a Looper and let it loop for several hours to break in the speaker a bit as this new one might sound harsh to start with.

If you do it would be great if you recorded it at the beginning and the end to see if you can actually hear any difference at all.

With my little boy shouting all the time and jumping around like a little monkey that will be a bit of a challenge. I will try.

Are you going to subject him to hours of looped riffage Che? Poor fellah. Mind you he might come up with a great melody.

It arrived today and all works as it should. It sounds different than my Bugera amps. Very raw sounding amp which blues players might very much enjoy Im sure. It can go clean and it can make those tubes boil if needed. My pedals dont sound as good into this amp. Bugera takes pedals extremelly well in comparison. One thing I dislike is the Tone knob; the amp is silent unless Volume and Gain are cranked but that is an ok Hum and one to be expected but the Tone knob has a Hiss to it as soon it passes 2 on the knob value. Dont like that hiss. It could be an issue for recording not so much for playing. Will need spend more time with it to see what it can and what it can't do, but so far I like the fact it has a different tone and tube break up than Bugera.

I hope it serves you well and that the tone knob isn’t a deal breaker.

I hope it serves you well and that the tone knob isn’t a deal breaker. One of the reasons I decided to buy on Thomann and not 2nd hand is the fact that I can return it and get all my money back rather than being stuck with it and trying to re-sell it again. And its nice to have 3 year warranty in case something goes dead on me This amp is to be used mostly for recording so hiss and such ugly noise is not something I (nor does @defjef) appreciate. I might be able to mitigate this hiss by cranking the Treble on my OD pedal nd when playing clean Reverb and Dlelays always add some extra spark to the tone so this might go well. Im also considering if 10" is for me. Last 10" amp I had was the VOX VT20+ moddeling amp and I didn't like it (likely for the moddeling confusing options). Im used to 12" speakers which move air nicely around my ears Sure thing I could buy a 12" cab but in that case CUB 12R would be a cheaper option. Also I have this money planned for that Casio keybaord which I just might use for buying a better amp in case I return this CUB 10. Nothing is set to stone just yet. I will try and find time to record some tones with my own gear so you fine folks can judge it with me. I mean , it can sound good through other folks gear but not so much through mine, so ... need more time playing this CUB 10

Do you still have a looper pedal Che? They're a good way of A/B ing amps.

Mooer delay has a 20 sec looper. Not sure Im in a mood to A/B anyhting as this CUB 10 is rather noisy when cranked. And that Tone knob hiss is not something I can record with. Im talking low volume here; the tone knob still introduces hiss. Just to repeat, this aint an issue if you just play but for recording its something to avoid. Im not sure how these you tube folks recorded theirs without this hiss?
This hiss is there even when there is nothing plugged into the amp and even when Volume and Gain are at ZERO. So it has something to do with the Tone knob circuit.
Will play some more ...
