Not sure why it took them so long .... right handed versions have been available forever. This is new for 2019.

Tried out a surf green Squier Jag and a red deluxe Jazzmaster like Deralex has at Guitar Guitar few months back preferred the Jazzmaster as the Jag was badly set up and the bridge pup was very spiky but may try one again when Squier release these bad boys.

I would be interested to know if the tone circuit in the Squiers is the same set up as in Fenders? I have watched quite a few videos on the Fender jags and jazzmaters, I think it was a jaguar player on an Anderton video that sounded fantastic.

The Squier one I tried was based on the original Fender circuit much like the AVRI Jaguars Blindwilly. I think this new 70s version from Squier is the same original circuit but apparently has a Mustang bridge which is a bonus. Would have preferred the new circuit they have on The American professional and J Marr Signature series but it's not a deal breaker for me. They do sound great on videos but I was a bit underwhelmed when comparing the sound to the Jazzmaster.

Squier do seem to be turning out some quality guitars.

Took them long enough!
I personally like Jazzmasters more than Jaguars but there are a couple of factors at play.

Yep the new range look pretty interesting blindwilly like some of the strats too. I think I got the info about the mustang bridge on the Jag wrong tho...wishful thinking I guess

I prefer the scale length and size of the bigger instrument, the bridges are equal I think. And I prefer the Jazzmaster pups to the Jaguar ones.
I like the look of the power caster, 24.75 scale length P90 neck and humbucker bridge.

I think I got the info about the mustang bridge on the Jag wrong tho...wishful thinking I guess I get it wrong all the time 😀 Yeah the whole Squier range seems to be improving. They seem to change bridges and pups more often than some people change their undies! I read somewhere the jaguar pups are not normal single coil pups like those in a strat? Cant remember what the difference was and I will probably have someone jump on me saying they are this or that. Much like the jazzmaster/P90 argument, it seems to be the norm now that manufacturer's don't always give the correct information.

I went to the store initially to try the jag as I've been gassing for one but the the low E kept popping off the fretboard and I wasnt't digging the bridge pup even though I like the online sound samples. The deluxe Jazzmaster had a fuller sound and played great but I think that model has p90s and not the Jazz pups. Either way I'll bid my time and try out a few more offsets before pulling the trigger.
