I told my wife (in the passing) that I just bought a great affordable bass multi fx pedal and she replied "thats good for you! I only hope you have enough money left to buy me a birthday present next week". I think Im in deep trouble seriously because thats about what I had for this month (paperbag) bullocks ! Im a dead man!
Do you know of any DIY birthday ideas??? Anything I can make in my work shop?

Write (and record) her a love song, then serenade her, doesn't get much cheaper!

It arrived today and it seems to be working properly. I didnt check just yet all the options like Looper and tuner. I only went fast through all the presets and most are usable except the strange Synth sounds (puke) Now my JB-75 bass has a bass multi pedal, how cool is that

Just don't fall into the trap of playing with the pedal more than with the bass (I did!)

The way I see it is the el-Bass or the el-Guitar is nothing without an amp and (certain) pedals. Only with the amp and FX is it a complete instrument. Now in my case Im in no need for an amp so some sort of Multi fx-pedal where headphones can be plugged in is in order to make this Bass of mine alive. Yes, today we also have DAW and pluggins which is the same as having an amp and pedals, and even with them you must to get to know them there are so many sonic options in this pedal and it will take me some time until I find the 4-5 which I will always use. Even though it is the Bass itself that we are playing with our hands and feel/technicality, without the amp/pedal/etc there will be no sound, at least not the one we are after. For me to be able to keep playing, sound is the paramount. The sound itself inspires me so for me this pedal is (in a way) more important than the guitar itself But I do get your point Another update; I went today to cut my Sheeps hoofs/claws and as I did the 1st sheep she kicked me so hard into my left (fretting) hand! She also jumped so strong that I fell. I was instantly in pain. The little finger was hurting so I placed ice on it all day. It doesnt seem to be broken but it is starting to swell just now when Im to start playing with me new pedal ... life sucks at times!

Sorry to hear that Che! Unfortunately, Murphy's law is like that. Every time I finally arrange to jam with friends or something, I usually burn/hurt at least one of my fingers! But at least you have your plucking hand in shape, so you can play with effect using open strings to get an idea

JAC I must ask you something because you have the ZOOM B3. When you engage some of the presets do you get much hiss? I have that hiss on most presets (some less others more) except on the ones with De-tune in. The Jaco Pastorius has no hiss AT ALL when engaged and this one has the De-tune engaged. I mentioned how my bass makes hiss when I take my hands off the metal but when Jaco Pastorius preset is on this is not an issue anymore. I am trying to figure out if that is what I have to do with most presets I make, add the de-tune a bit so to get rid of that hissing. Did you notice such issues with your single coil passive basses on the B3 ? My Digitech RP70 also had such buzzing but there I had a noise gate to remedy it. Im yet to find the Noise Gate on this pedal ... off I go searching ...

I did find some hiss on some of the effects, especially overdrives and other "noisy" effects. I don't use these kind of effects that much, so I don't really pay that much attention to them, but I found that playing aroung with global volumes etc. made it a lot easier for me to use individual effects without volume or noise issues. To be honest, I spent about a year reading and trying setups from the B3 thread over on TalkBass (where TitaniumRX was a great help, shame he doesn't post here lately) but I am only still at around 15% of total knowledge of the pedal Have you tried searching for B1on threads on TB? Or even try reading some of the B3 threads, you may find a lot of answers that we sometimes miss because they are too simple.

It would be easier if the ZOOM came with a good instruction booklet as the Digitech does. I mean in the ZOOM instructions they didnt even write what effects are there in this pedal or what amps etc ... I dont read TB forum but I will try to find something on this pedal over there.
When you say Global Volumes do you mean the Master Volume? I have that on the Digitech but not on this B1on which is a pity.

I don't know about the B1on, but the B3 has a global page that you can access and set global settings etc.
I find that some Zoom settings are hidden in places that don't seem very logical, but once you find them they kind of make sense.

Yes it takes time to get to know a multi fx pedal. It took me at least 6 month to get to know my guitar pedal Digitech RP70 but eventually I broke the code

The drum machine on this Zoom pedal sounds very electronic and does not sound even close to real drums. The drum machine on my Digitech RP70 sounds at least 10 x better that these Zoom drums. But the Zoom has many more rhythm patterns to use in practice. A useful tool.
The Looper and Overdubbing works but am yet to learn how to use it properly (never used a looper before)
