I am looking at buying this Zoom B1on pedal at the end of this month instead of a microphone. Even though I can play through my guitar multi fx pedal Digitech RP70 I find its hard to dial in the EQ because all the amps are for guitars not for bass. I cant afford more than this so wonder if it is any good? Thanks!

Hi Che from the rainy land of Greece!
I would recommend trying to find a B2 if possible, they are quite a but better than the B1. The B3 is excellent, and also includes an interface (which is what I use for recording bass) but it is quite a bit more expensive used. However, the B2 is usually very cheap used (I paid 30€ about 4 years ago).
Out of curiosity, how much are you planning on paying for the B1?

58 euros + 10 euros for a charger/adapter. I cant find the B2 on Thomann nor Musikstore.
I am also looking at the Bass Vamp but not sure if that thing is good. I need something I can plug my headphones into.
I am also thinking to buy the Digitech BP90 (85 euro, over my budget) because I have such great experience with my guitar Digitech RP70. And on top of this I need a microphone which will need to wait ... (so many things I need ....... will I ever get all of it, I should have stayed with the acoustic guitar ....)

(so many things I need ....... will I ever get all of it, I should have stayed with the acoustic guitar ....) to that I know the answer to no there will always be something else you need (think you need) what I've spent on equipment since late 80's (most I don't have any more or not compatible anymore) would be enough to pay for a nice house

Che, that is far too expensive for the B1. I have seen the used for about 20€. The B1 was discontinued and replaced by the B2 which was also discontinued (about 4 years ago) and replaced by the B3. You should be able to find a used B3 for less than they are asking for the B1!

I am in Greece today, and Italy tomorrow and Friday, so I have limited internet resources, but I can have a look over the weekend if you like.
I have a B2 (but without the expression pedal), if you want to try out the B2 send me a PM and we'll find a way. A word of warning though, the B2 is very complex to get the best out of it.
Check out some of the B2 and B3 threads over on TalkBass to get an idea.

Oh, man (doh) I think you were talking about an entirely different Zoom B1 pedal After searching much on you tube I found this Zoom B1 and once I saw it I immediately knew why you said it was discontinued. You see, the pedal I talked about is Zoom B1on (the "on" part you see). This is the one you were talking about right? I am talking about this Zoom B1on The one you talk about sounds crap I agree but the new one, the Zoom B1on sounds amazing on all videos I watched. This one has an expression pedal

To be totally honest, I haven't tried it, nor have I researched it. I remember a few people on TB saying good things about it (except for the plastic finish), but to be truthful, I didn't really follow it that much. I will say that the price makes more sense now that we are talking about the same model I do know that the Zoom MS60B is pretty good value for money. It can do basically what the B3 can, in a smaller (cheaper) format. You lose the USB but gain an extra effect in the chain (compared to the B3). Have you tried running a search for the B1on on TalkBass? I am sure there will be plenty of info about it.

The Zoom B1on is from 2014 and the Zoom B3 is from 2012. Im sure they would not make the B1on worse sounding than the B3, except that B3 has more options and is more sturdy.
After getting used to the great stereo sound on the Digitech RP70 I would find hard to get used to anything of lesser quality. By listening to these videos above Im confident this Zoom B1on has great stereo sound and as a bonus it has a 30 sec Looper in stereo quality. I will be buying this asap because I need good sound to feel inspired to play and get new ideas.
I do admire those of you who can get ideas by simply playing the one amp sound and then adding extra effects afterwards in the mix. I just cant do that because the very effect sound will inspire certain way of playing and ideas for a new tune/line. What I do later in the mix I just tweak the EQ add extra stereo and thats it basically.

I sure will. But keep in mind that I have no background in bass so have nothing to compare it with only my own feel of it.
