My 550 is just over a year old my 450 about 9 months old. The 550 neck is slimmer than the 450 I have. It's not super slim but definitely not chunky like the 450. That is exactly thee information I’m looking for. Not as chunky, but not super slim is perfect. Thank you Mr 3Fingers! When I purchased the 450 I wasn’t too satisfied with all the pieces that made up the body, it looked like they used scraps to fill in sections, but it played like magic with a tiny bit of setup. Oh, but that neck thickness! Thinking I may have had one put over on me I contacted Thomann who graciously sent another for me to try, and return the one I liked the least. Well, the new one I received looked identical BUT the neck felt thinner. I preferred the neck on the replacement, but I could not get it set up to play as nicely as the original I received. So I decided keep the first one and never mind the odd patched-in wood on the body, she was a dream to play - minus the neck thickness. So, assuming maybe different factory, different people doing sanding by hand, different amount of lacquer applied? Who knows? I even thought about having the neck sanded down. So I may pull the plug on a 550 for a slimmer neck and hope it’s as nice of a player as the 450 is.

If it's anything like mine or most of the other lads on the forum who have one, your onto a winner.

I love my SC-550 so much more than the Gibson LP studio I had. Get one mate, you'll dig it.

My 2 cents is that the SC-550 can't be beat for the price. It's a superb instrument.
