And why wouldn't it? The only burst I don't like much is the notorious 'clownburst': that yellow and red affair that looks like Noddy or the Circus Firemen might own it. Noddy, reporting for duty, sir! Sorry for the "off topic".

yes, washers, they were saying if the strings were touching the body of the saddle/bridge that you would want to use washers so that the tailpiece was still solidly connected to the body. other then that they were saying as close to touching as possible without it actually touching. mine strings werent touching so I skipped messing with it. they had some rather aggressive angles on theirs. Who are "they"? I am no expert, by any stretch of the imagination, but I do trawl a few guitar forums and have never seen mentioned, anything about washers being used Anyway, I believe it is only Gibsons that have this issue, because the tailpiece is mounted closer to the bridge than on Epiphone, and other LP type copies (I have a few and all can be screwed to the deck without issue), by around 10mm. The Gibson bridge is also wider, but I do have a couple of "Chibsons" with the same width bridge as the Gibson and again no issue. That being said, I don't have the SC550 here to compare, yet.

Many differing opinions in that thread, but, in the end, it comes down to personal preference and what the individual guitar can tolerate, mechanically, IMO. Like in music, if it works, it works and if it doesn't, it doesn't, but, it is also subjective, to an extent.

No, that one doesn't count thunderbird ; it's too subtle and gorgeous. The main culprits are things like these: LOL, looks like a 2 year old painted that one.

defjef,youre funny man!
about that tech guy thing: it seems like there are techs everywhere which got a little to none clue about the instruments. most of the time they didnt even know how to play the instrument a bit. so knowone how can play and know how the instrument should feel while playing ...should give their instruments to someone like this.
nowadays you can google everything so do it on your own...of course...a broken neck is not what i mean. i mean...even someone like joe bonamassa setup his guitars on his own. and if you understand the physics its easy. i do repairs and setups for people and even i say to them they should learn how to do it on their own. because i will adjust it the best i can but that still doesnt mean its the best FOR THEM.
for example: i got a very soft touch so i lay my strings very flat. a buddy of mine got constant buzz out of it while playing. so everybody should do it on his own to get the best out of the instrument.
sorry for the long post

I would hope not, but now you have me thinking although he did do a good job on one of my Chibsons, so I doubt this would be the case. Unless he just really despised Gibson, he did seem to lean towards the bolt on neck variety, IIRC. Anyway, it is all academic, as I do all of my own work now.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.
