Thanks guys, to be honest I'm not really that mad I've had 4 HB guitars from Thomann, 2 have needed to be sent back (with full refund, so i lost nothing really other than a bit of time) and 2 have been fantastic (£300 guitars for £100 in my opinion) so overall I feel I'm still up on the deal and am more than happy to try again. I just wish they would put a bit more effort into a basic 5 minute quality check before sending things out to check for obvious issues (especially when asked to do so). More than anything I can't think it helps them build the Harley Benton brand if they get people with bad experiences. I imagine if my first purchases had been the 2 that needed to be sent back, I would probably have never have made the 3rd and 4th orders to get the good ones. Ah well, that's the game we play I think I'll try a Flying V next if I can come to terms with active pickups.. Once more unto the breach, dear friends... Wait, that's from Henry the Fifth... Or Henry VIt's a sign.. I should buy a Flying V

Well aware the MR-65 is a Mosrite copy Che. That's why I mentioned The Ventures,possibly the most famous Mosrite players ever. Mosrite building 5 Ventures models including 12 sring and bass from 63 to 67. That's what the Bees need,play them some Surf Guitar

She arrived just now What a beauty I love it to bits.The action is a bit too high which needs adjusting. The pickups sounds so so soooo nice and crisp what a lovely sound very bitey sound. The only thing I have to check later today once the guitar has adjusted to the room temperature and humidity is the neck. I think (but not totally sure) that the neck is a bit twisted, not much but still something I dont want on my guitar. Will update it later on and will do an amateur sound check as per usual as soon I get used to it a bit.

Thanks lads Yes she is a beauty indeed and she feels right. As said one strap lock doesnt function (falls off), the string action is high (will lower the bridge a bit) and the neck has an up-bow so will need to tighten the truss rod a bit. The intonation seems ok but will check that better after I lower the bridge and truss rod adjusting. After buying those cheaper acoustics and sending them back because of their poor assembly I just got tired of going for the "cheaper" HB and just decided to give all my "poor man" savings into one of the "high end" HB guitars that I would really like to have, not just a cool guitar but one that I REALLY would want to hold all the time Lads this is me as far as it goes with guitars. Im done. From now on its just pickup upgrades, maybe new tuners on my ST and L-450Plus, new pedals, some kick ars amp head and cab in the future but as far as guitars Im out and happy with what I own now. I have a great platform to test around different pickups and that is all I need to go after "the sound" I like.

Yeah, I was also afraid it will look too lemony yellow which I don't like. This one is Amber/Ocker yellowish very fine top indeed its an absolute keeper. Im still not sure if the neck is a bit twisted or not (maybe its an optical illusion) but if I find out its twisted I will ask them to send me a new one because I WANT this guitar. So far the comparison between L-450 Plus and the SC-550 PAF; the 3 way switch is better on the SC 550, Pickups sound much brighter than the L450 and they just articulate each string better, less mud I guess. It feels like the L450 was keeping me in muddy waters and the SC550 showered me with a purple rain Im also not sure why but the neck is easier to play on the SC550. The sustain seems the same I think and both bodies vibrate the same when played, maybe L450 vibrates a bit more. Im talking about the sound traveling through the body. I love to feel this tone wood vibration against my body, feels great almost as if the guitar was alive. The tune-o-matic bridge is not the same a s on the L450. Same principle but they look different.

And to add; This SC550 I've got is less yellow than in my photos above. My iPhone camera is making it look yellower than it is. It is a fantastic looking guitar people! No kidding. Im so excited about it but as soon I look at it I feel calm. No kidding. It calms me down when I see it, hear it or hold it. What a babe!

That's a beautiful guitar! I want one of those!
I like the new shape of the LP ehh... SC serie by the way. Looks a lot more high-end, less Gibson-copy-ish! Ish!

Ok, some more updates;
When I play Smells Like Teen Spirit on my L450+ it sounds GREAT but not so when I play it on the SC550. It seems like those SC550 Wilkinson pups love shredding and heavier sharper sound, so definitely not the best choice for grunge style nor for Black Sabbath.
I even tried Battery on the SC550 and I couldnt get the sound right. Not that its bad but trying to figure out if it suits my warmer/darker feel. Any who it sure is great for some delay soloing very articulate, each note rings beautifully (for my ears).
It also loves some more aggressive playing, it likes when you dig in with the plectrum more and it squeals well. The potties are very sensitive and have more tone variations than the ones on my L450+ (must get into it some more)
So far it holds well in tune. And I dont think the neck is twisted, that must be an optical illusion of sort. It feels right when I play it.
