Will write first the Good then the Bad and Great for the ending!
The Good;
all seems in one piece The neck is thinner than my ST-62 and is more of a modern C shape. Tuners works as they should. The nut is cut well! The Top looks very good, not matched but looks good nontheless. Action is fine out of the box. All electronics work as they should (I think the Tone pots might be B/Linear but not sure). 3 way switch works. The body-neck is perfectly aligned! Inlays look great and have no imperfections!
The Bad;
Frets 14, 15 and 16 will need some work! The 14th in particular is sticking out on the ends, so much it is pushing the binding out a bit (this sounds like a huge deal but will only need a file). The frets in general need polishing, they are rough but noting scary!
Soldering job was done by a toddler!!! Huge chunks of solder on pots and one can see cold solder as well! (all works fine though without any noise).
The Great;
These Roswell LAF (low output) Humbuckers have restored my fate in Humbucker pickups and in this Roswell brand (I hated the Roswell ST pups and didn't much like the TE either, nor the Roswell FLT). You know the feeling when you play the Bridge pup and it sounds cool and then you switch to the Neck pup and all goes into mud?! Well this doesn't happen with these Roswell pups! Freaking brilliant!
The sustain on this guitar is a killer and there are also overtones to it! Really happy about the tone/sustain in general!
This SC-550 FT weighs only 3,5kg Its as heavy as my ST and TE which are made of Basswood! My perfect weight! Not too heavy and not too light!
Extra to add; salteedog was right! This one is the new one from Vietnam, so the Rosewood description was wrong! Any way this Roseacer looks and feels like a solid wood but time will tell.
Im planning to polish the frets, level and fix the 14/15/16 frets and oil the fretboard. I will raise the tail piece as I dislike such a sharp string angle coming down from the bridge. Maybe will mess a bit more with the intonation (which is acceptable already as is) to get it to my liking.
This was a BARGIN! An absolute keeper!
(note; there are 2 sall "D" letters hammered into the lacquer at the back of the neck and the back of the body. This is Normal with all/most DEKO's from Thomann.)
p.s. my spell check is not working today so excuse any spelling mistakes!
