Air fresheners and scented candles are the bane of my life too. I hate those artificial 'natural' smells.

Man, you just made me remember when I used to walk into Grafton st. from the Molly Malone statue side, and those few shops there that sell scented soaps and all sorts of scented scary stuff! It always made me sick to me stomach! Now in the country side Im not exposed to such parfumized stuff but instead I get smell of fungicides and herbicides and pesticides and miticides from the fields ... and yes the smell of manure (likely artificial). Story of my life! Shame really I can't write lyrics otherwise I could have made a nice song a la John Grant

salteedog How could we/you develop this into a song; "Air fresheners and scented candles are the bane of my life too, all sorts of scented scary stuff! It always made me sick to me stomach! Now in the country side Im not exposed to such parfumized stuff but instead I get smell of fungicides and herbicides and pesticides and miticides from the fields and yes the smell of manure, likely artificial. ... ... ... ... Can we do this for the Participate song? DefJef did you do the first rough arrangement we could use to help form verses/chorus?

So how is the Drive Channel on this combo? Turbosound might sound better than your champ's speaker connected to the V22 head.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

I thought it would be interesting to see how similarly voiced, or otherwise, my side by side amps are. Katana not in the equation, just the Fender Champ 25SE vs the Bugera V22. I started with the Champ with its 6L6s and set it for it's lovely clean sound and then attempted to bring the Bugera's clean channel with its EL84s to as similar a sound as possible. Whilst it wasn't exactly achievable and took a lot of fiddling to get them in the ball park I settled for this with a bit of reverb: I went into the normal input on both amps. On the Champ I kept the mid shift button out and on the Bugera kept the boost button out. You can see that the Champ and the Bugera have the pre amp volume at around 10 o'clock, the master on the Bugera around 10 o'clock whilst the same master ('Loudness') on the Champ is a little less at just past 9 o'clock. That would make sense; the Champ is 25 watts and the Bugera 22 watts. Ignoring the Drive channel settings on the Champ, it's the Normal EQ controls that we're interested in, I found that the Champ has the EQ set to nearly 2 o'clock treble, around 1 o'clock on the mids and just past 9 o'clock on the bass. The Bugera was tricky, I had to max the treble whilst dialing right back the mids to just over 9 o'clock and the bass rolled waaaay down to nearly off. I also found I needed to bring on a lot of the Presence knob on the Bugera to get somewhere near the Champ's sound, right up to 2 o'clock. At the end of all this it is still evident that there is a very different voice to each amp. There's a certain depth to the Champ that's not the same in the Bugera. Now 'depth' could also be interpreted as 'muddy' so I'm not saying one is better than the other and, evidently, there is a lot more bass and mids I could roll off the Champ whilst there's nothing left to roll off the Bugera. Maybe the Bugera's speaker sounds a little tighter? That could explain it. Whatever, this wasn't an exercise in science, just a useful comparison for me to do to get some idea about the flavour of these two amps. I'm glad they have different talents otherwise I would be feeling that one should be sold. Instead I now have a twin set of amps that work nicely together in a two amp rig. I'm really excited to try some stereo effects with them now and will seriously have to think about my stage setup. Do I want to take two amps to the next gig? Champ for cleanest of cleans and Bugera for crunch and lead? More reverb on the one than the other...but which one? Or do I keep the Bugera or the Champ safe at home and just go with one amp and pedals? Hmm, hmm, hmm. I do fancy a stereo onslaught!
