But lets not forget all the other models that are awesome. Its more good than bad in HB Land. Here is another musician gigging the Benton;

Thomann pays return within the first 14 days. They also pay if there is an issue with the guitar/gear. That's good to know... I might be tempted to buy one soon, then... thanks for that info!

What I said is for EU only. Not for Brexitiers or other continents tho If in U.S. or elsewhere you will have to pay part of the shipment I think.

No problem, Germany is "next-door", as a Belgian, I did my military service in Germany. But thanks anyway.

Nope, Soest is more than a 100km from Troisdorf... in 1993. One of the Belgian tank battalions was there... and so was I.... Young, innocent, and making all the same mistakes we all make when we were young... to come back on-topic... 1) The pickups are obviously Filtertron inspired, but their website states that they are quite bass-y and only average on the treble. Youtube is not a good place to discover pickup sounds (IMHO). Are they really that heavy on bass? Did any of you have to turn the bass down on your amps? 2) how is the quality of the "deluxe" hardware? 3) The finish on the neck of my TE-30 is very soft, is this also a problem with this guitar?

They are brighter than a regular humbucker, and quite jangly. They sound brighter than my Gretsch G5422 (with filtertrons) and not quite as bright as my Harley Benton TE-70 (with Wilkinson ceramic single coils). 2) I think "deluxe" in German means "adequate" . The tuners work fine, and the bridge is not terrible. Although not technically "hardware", the nut on the neck deserves a mention. Usually I swap factory nuts with bone nuts to improve tone & tuning, but the factory nut on this model is great. 3) The neck has a very thin satin finish, there's really not much there to damage.

The finish of the neck and the tuners are what I fear the most... pickup tastes are different for everyone, and what you describe fits my expectation. On the other hand, I suppose I could always replace the neck and tuners with better ones. Thanks... you just added one more guitar to my want list...

A small update on my TE-90FLT. Thomann gave me a small refund to compensate for the issues I found. Regarding the problem of badly-fitting pickup screws, they couldn't offer much hope: I have asked them to send me some screws, but who knows what will turn up! Anyway, it's quite easy to reshape the factory screws with a cordless drill and a small file to fit better. Before & after:

But what do they mean, they don't have the original screws for these pickups? From what we've seen that's the last thing anybody needs for these FLTs. Exactly. I'm looking forward to seeing what turns up. Some 4" decking screws perhaps

Ok lads take it easy on our beloved Benton , ok! Why can't you simply nail the bloody pup into the cavity and be done with it?! I'm mean seriously .... so many fine looking nails to choose from ... and what about super glue?! Seriously now, it would hold the pickup in place and no screw heads poking out to damage your hand. Seriously ...

If anyone's interested, I've started a separate thread over in the mods forum to document my attempts at making my TE-90FLT right. Some Bigsby action is promised
