Trigger pulled - I woke this morning to find the GAS was still strong.

Well, delivery date was postponed by Thomann (as with a lot of other stuff according to FB groups). Still waiting for my red one.

Did they email you advising on the delivery date change? I noticed the green one had changed to 1st March last week which prompted me to phone and confirm that my order was still good for the stock arriving on 17th Jan. They confirmed it was so I'm expecting notice of shipment today or tomorrow.
I agree there have been a lot of complaints about their service of late. I believe they are having trouble with the order promise dates - matching orders to inventory. New warehouse system growing pains presumably.

Got my order shipped notification. Should be here next week depending on how long it waits to catch a flight in Koln.

Got my Vaporizer and just tested it for a few minutes.
Boy is that thing loud. Turning it two volume level 1-2 nothing comes out of the box. At level 3 it roars.
Don´t know if I will keep it - don´t gig and don´t have a large room with other musicians to compete with (soundwise).
What are your experiences with the Vaporizer?

It should be arriving tomorrow. It was stuck in Koln until today. Other stuff I ordered with it arrived today...including an cheapo AB/Y switch. An incredibly useful piece of gear I'm expecting the Vaporizer to be loud. Luckily I live in the countryside so dont have to worry about neighbours complaining other than shame at my bad playing. In any case my plan is to build a Lpad attenuator to use with it. Will probably run a pedal into it as well to get a little more control over the volume. Main thing is I'm hoping the amp isn't faulty. A few folks who received their amps this week complained about reverb noise and even bad tubes. These amps were probably sitting in a warehouse somewhere for a couple of years.

I will test the Vaporizer with a volume pedal in front of it over the weekend. The thing is just too loud and if the pedal doesn´t work I will return it.
Also the hard-wired footswitch for the useless Vaporizer mode is also quite annoying for hauling the amp around. Would be the first thing to be removed on mine.

Nice links saltee. I was looking at these the other day. My Fender amp's speaker is hard wired so I was thinking about putting jacks on it to fit an attenuator box. I'll read a bit more now!

So my Surf Green Vaporizer was delivered about an hour ago and since I'm at home this morning I've just had a chance to try it out. Here's my first impressions:- 1.Build quality is nice. 2. DerAlex The footswitch is not hardwired into the amp - there is a clip holding the wire in place but the connection to the amp is via a regular TS jack. 3. It's is indeed bloody loud. As in blow the roof off the house loud. Clearly designed for old-school guitar volume control and tone control playing. Its not really possible to get crunch/distortion at a level that couldn't be heard by my neighbours who live 200meters away. 4. There is hiss - but no worse than my Stage 112se - it's certainly louder than what one would expect from a practise amp but for a loudish amp such as this I thinks it's not abnormal. Probably could be remedied by shielding the reverb tank better. 5. Clean tones don't blow me away yet. Not as nice as the Stage 112se which has a much more flexible EQ section. 6. It loves my Screaming Blues pedal....a pedal which is distinctly 'meh' through my solid state amps. That pedal has a tendency to be quite harsh and usually needs the high (on the pedal)dialed close to zero but on the Vaporizer it really sings. Its a responsive, transparent pedal (basically a Boss BD clone) so with it I can go from gritty clean to overdrive with my guitar vol control and or pick attack. Nice. Thats it for now

I guess a few more things - I tried the Vaporizer mode and lived to tell the tale. I never expect to use it again. - It breaks up at a louder volume than I expected...there's plenty of clean headroom for home playing. - The gimmicky reverb mode (reverb on max, volume at min) is actually more interesting than I expected.

It sounds like a very odd beast. Sometimes I'm astonished that some things ever get out of the factory door. Or even off the page. Those packs of bacon that you can't actually peel open. Give one of those to the CEO and he'd say, "No. Try harder." Or pencil sharpeners that only break the lead. Or my hissing Blackstar. Or a Fiat Multipla. I mean, the answer's clearly 'No'. You'd be better off taping an upright piano to the front of a van.

I think a 100Watt L-Pad would be better - I know Monacor do them too - but I cannot seem to find them on Farnells site.
