My little Bugera V5 got a big brother the V55! What a fine tube indeed! My ex solid state Peavey Bandit 100 watt is a joke tone wise in comparison to this affordable beasty Its fantastic sounding for cleaner playing. Still trying to find out what kind of OD fits best to this box! I think some fat OD would be best because this amp is most certainly not muddy nor dark! Lots of treble here folks! I turn the Treble down to 1 and Bass 6 Mids 7 and off with the Presence, meaning if i had humbuckers I would have lots of tweaking possibilities to brighten them up! This 12" speaker sounds very good! I think folks complained mostly about the Red Turbosound which Bugera later replaced with the much better sounding Blue Turbosound. I think they should have kept this original Bugera speaker, Nothing wrong with it! I have never seen such HUGE tubes before (well, I only ever had one tube amp which is only 5 watts)! These 2 big boys are TAD 6L6 ! The 3 thin ones are 12ax7, not sure what brand!. This amp has a Bias knob and Bias check (how does one check this and is it easy) These tubes sure make that cooking tube sound I like it! I arrived at the sellers place today with my gear! Plugged the stuff in and got LOTS of NOISE! The guy had not even one grounded wall socket!!! Once I've got it home I plugged the amp into a grounded socket and most of that scary noise went away YOU MUST GROUND THE TUBE AMP !!! W t F ! Its normal in Denmark not to have grounded wall sockets for some unknown reason! I made sure to tell the electrician to only install grounded ones in our newly renovated house! All in all, very happy so far. Need to play with the FX Loop one day to see what that brings about!

Maybe the HB vintage Overdrive ? I would rather try the Valeton Tube Engine because it has Bass and Treble knobs (handy to have).

You've GOT to try some stereo stuff now!
Funnily enough I was just looking into Jimmie Websters idea for a Gretsch with one amp for the top three strings and one amp for the bottom three via special pickups. I am so tempted.

Total mindblank. Who’s the old time fingerstyle Guy? Iirc he played Gretsch and had something similar where his guitar had 2 outputs ?

Jimmie Webster did such a thing as did Chet Atkins.

Those early Gretsch guys were fingerstyle geniuses. Tapping and playing bass lines on the thumb and melodies on the other fingers. So many more folk seemed to learn the piano back then so it came quite naturally to be using both hands to hold all that stuff down. Sadly it also works in reverse. Being a guitarist first, I take all of that to the piano and can't seem to disconnect my hands from each other and end up sort of strumming and arpeggiating the piano.

Nice looking amp @chedapapa. You're all set now to recruit a band.

The amp sure is fine but my pedals don't sound that nice with it. Need to figure out what to do ... Looking at maybe getting the American Sound and some nice OD infront of it. The NUX OD is not really sounding that good with it. Need a pedal board and better cables ... and a quiet power supply too ... and longer guitar cables ... Damn it! I want a new guitar and here I will spil my money on cables!

V55 has two channels: Normal and Bright The Normal is the Clean and the Bright is the one that has the Gain knob! The Bright channel doesnt sound that good to my ear. The overdriven amp sounds very bad if you ask me. I think this amp is best used as a clean amp for pedals and then shape the tone as you see fit. It certainly sounds good with my Digitech RP225 which is a preamp. The Bassman sim sounds best. The other fender sims not so much since this amp is on a bright side and al the fender sims are bright except the Bassman. Wonder if the American Sound might sound too shrill? I should stay away from the AC Tone thats for bloody sure But the British Tone might sound better maybe? Im sure The Dude would sound best but money is in short supply! I mean I do have the RP225 which can hold the tone I like for some time and then at some stage get a better sounding sim stomp box. ... need to win Lotto! ... but I never play Lotto

Forgot to mention; the FX Loop works fine but can be very noisy with some power supplies and not so much with others.

Forgot to mention; the FX Loop works fine but can be very noisy with some power supplies and not so much with others. I’ve been incapacitated by a terrible cold/virus but couldn’t get my Alter ego working with the fx loop yet on my Laney.
