Well probably the Squier vintage Mod tele custom although I don't like what they've done to that scratchplate round the bridge. Nasty!

I would prefer the LTD with modern shapes and rounded neck heel but the absence of coil split is not forgiveable.

I would go for the one with the traditional Tele bridge pickup because I really like the sound of a Telecaster bridge.

I do too MartinB . I've just been rocking one now! Thought I'd compare it with my favourite strat and discovered my strat's Ironstone neck pickup is microphonic and doesn't like a gain and compression pedal on. It won't be going to a gig till that gets sorted. Eek! Sounds were comparable enough though in the mix. Not a problem. But, once again, my no name Tele wins. Best £40 I ever spent.

But, once again, my no name Tele wins. Best £40 I ever spent. I love that bass I stole for 50€ plus shipping, with case! Half that love comes from that ridiculous price, half from the small achievement of turning a botched cheap thing into a well playable and fairly good sounding instrument by fixing the nut (it was cut for a fretted intrument and mounted on a fretless ) and re-wiring its controls to something that actually made sense. Then another half comes from it being my first (and only as yet) fretless bass, which I really enjoy fooling around with. You guys counting halves have no idea what love is.

Going through Telecaster shaped string holders by increasing prices, the first I find that makes me wish to try it is the Harley Benton TE-90QM HH Trans Blue, semi-hollow, HH, 188€. I could be interested in the red one with P90s but… I don't really want a red guitar. I mean another one. Going further up in price, quite a bit, I find the Fender SQ CV 70s Tele Thinline MN 3TS (380€), attractive, with a decent look and Fender Wide Range Humbuckers. Then there would be the Squier Classic Vibe Tele Thin with single coils for 445€. There is just too much black and white on all others. These three are all semi-hollow but this is a coincidence. The next level of attraction comes with the Chapman Guitars ML3 Modern Incarnadine V2, at 519€. I don't even mind this one is red.

G&L, Fret King and Cort also make good T style guitars, there’s an awful lot of choice out there for T fans.
@leo Thunder I think I’m correct in saying no modern Fender Wide Range pickups are really Wide Range pickups anymore.

@leo Thunder I think I’m correct in saying no modern Fender Wide Range pickups are really Wide Range pickups anymore. Are they still something special or just regular humbuckers?

The originals had individual magnet slugs in them. They now seem to be regular humbuckers with bar magnets. I know some folk have stripped the magnets and screws out and replaced them with slugs.

The originals were CuNiFe magnets 3+3 so more like a pair of singles in series iirc.
The modern ones are just standard humbuckers in a fancy case afaik.

You got it MartinB . Sort of an evolution of the Precision pickup. Leo may well have been developing them for a good while because a very similar thing turned up on his G&L guitars.

I have been tempted by quite a few G&L guitars, including that Comanche.

I like the way that little wibble in the headstock shape almost has a purpose on that Comanche: to hold the word 'Comanche' . Normally I hate those sorts of overworked shapes.

I vote for the Tele Custom but I also don't like the scratchplate cut around the bridge.
But I'm biased because I've long lusted after a traditional style Fender Tele Custom - as a left hander they are as rare as hen's teeth.
