Ok, so we cant say with 100% certainty that the brass one from the L-450Plus is a ceramic without dismantling the base plate, right? We need to see the black ceramic magnet block to be sure. Or is it 100% a ceramic humbucker if the plate is made of brass?

Or is it 100% a ceramic humbucker if the plate is made of brass? Alnico's seem to not have as much magnetic force as the ceramics. So if you have a confirmed alnico pick-up then put a screw on the table and see how close you have to get it before it grabs it, the distance will be shorter on the alnico before grabbing the screw over the ceramic.

I just sent the following to their guitar and quality control E-mail addresses: To Whom It May Concern,
Recently, there have been some questions as to whether or not the listings for Harley Benton guitars on your site misrepresent the kind of pickups that are used.
Please see the following thread at the Harley Benton Club Forums:
theharleybentonclub.proboards.com/thread/655/singlecoil-pickup-downgrading-on
I don't have to tell you how serious this is.
My advice to you would be to read the thread completely, look into the situation and have one of your English speaking representatives reply ASAP.
Take it from someone who also works in mail-order/Internet retail. You want to get out in front of this and get the issue resolved.
Thanks in advance for your attention.

>snip< Sure its annoying when such mistakes in describing happen but man even with those mistakes no one can beat their price for the quality one gets >snip< With other words, you are saying "as long as it is cheap it isn't important what we get for our money". Sorry - I strongly disagree. If Thomann says a guitar has alnicos and I get ceramics, that's not okay. This is a very bad tendency and it can be very dangerous for Thomann. Harley Benton was just getting a better respected image in the guitar world. And now such crap happens. That can ruin everything which has been accomplished over the last two, three years. True. If the guitar buying fraternity is as rocked as I am about this, Thomann may see a huge downturn in people willing to risk a purchase. My view of them has been a bit of a rollercoaster over the past month. Just as I was beginning to be convinced Harley Bentons were the greatest news ever I begin to have my doubts. With online selling it is especially important to get your descriptions accurate.

Any idea about the pickups on the SC-Custom? It has the Pickups with the Logo on the Baseplate, so most likely they are Alnico, which i even think because they are not High Output.

Last year I asked thomann guitar team about a certain HB guitar and who made those pickups because they did not have that info in the description and they told me that all the pickups come from the same Wilkinson line of pickups. I cant find that email sadly. If that is true or not cant say because some folks say that the unbranded pups might come from Shadow which again might be the same factory where Wilkinson is being made all this stuff with China made pickups and pedals is just , oh , ugh we need to hire a detective! I have changed my view on ceramic pickups though after seeing that my beloved L-450Plus has humbuckers with the brass plate meaning they are ceramic but very much vintage voiced and mellow, soft, fat, all I want from that vintage sound

....... brass plate meaning they are ceramic..... I don't agree with you, because nothing of what was said there can really be taken as a proof of this. I don't mean that ceramic can't be sounding fine. I am just expecting facts instead of opinions about wether Thoman is or not giving correct informations.

I have sent 2 emails one to the office and one to the Guitar Team. This I just receive from the office. In my experience Thomann always answers to me when I have questions or complaints;

Just pulled the pickups out of my recently bought paradise and no model number on them just Wilkinson logo stamped into the metal and a black A scribbled on with a sharpie. The bridge pup has a lot of wax underneath and rge neck pup none. Resistance was around 14k for bridge and 7k for neck. I immediately thought that the bridge must be only working on one coil but volume output is very similar where as on my bass when I tap a coil the volume is noticeabley lower. I tapped the pole piecesvwith a screwdriver and they all sound similar. Maybe I should open her up and measure the coils individualy but I'm happy with the sound so maybe not.
