Can't go wrong with the CLD41 although you'd love the CLA28V if you loved the CLA16...

Can't go wrong with the CLD41 although you'd love the CLA28V if you loved the CLA16... Seems that 28 has a V shape neck! Big no from me. Had this shape on me Traveler and didn't like it much. Need me self a modified C or D not too thick. Im looking at the white CLG 550 which is the only HB thats with a proper Rosewood finger board and Rosewood back and side, solid spruce top and has a Fishman system. I would love to get a guitar that is a cross between a Dreadnought and 000 so I can project well and loud when needed but still remain nice dynamics for finger style. Am I asking too much?

The CLD41 has a great slim neck @chedapapa - really comfortable - it is a great alrounder too - has the boomy dread sound but sounds great picked too. The CLA28V lends itself well to picking - the sound is very pronounced and clear.
These two videos are fair representation of how the guitars sound

Those vids are played on the Rosewood guitar not the new Walnut right? I wonder what the story is with that Walnut body? Know anything about it?

Aye @chedapapa - loads of people will argue that the back and sides don't matter much it's all in the quality of the top. I'm no expert but I think Rosewood sounds clearer than Mahogany but still warm. I played a walnut Gibson (think it was a J15) and loved the sound - very punchy and immediate. Also played a cheap chinese guitar with laminate walnut and loved the sound too.
The Walnut is replacing rosewood because of CITES and might be as close to Rosewood sonically as they can get?
Of course the wood may not be rosewood or walnut - didn't Easyrider's luthier think it was something else? It might be flamefoto of both the same way that Martin does on their HPL in which case there won't be a difference.
Worth taking a chance on either? Are they still around €300? That's amazing for what you get.

I really need an acoustic again, I can feel that. I keep looking at some 2nd hand Yamaha Revstars with P90's and a hollow body Peavey JF2EX but keep telling myself that I should only spend the money on a new acoustic guitar! Still have few more days left until the pay day to ponder and decide. Im also looking at the CLA-15M and maybe putting some flatwound Thomastick Plectrum strings on it!

Why Thomastick? I dont know anything about walnut, but do not trust it much. Also dont like painted guitars, they look ugly for me. CLD-41 and CLA-28 are great both.

Was it the CLD 41 model you had and gave to the young boy? I remember you really liked that one too. Maybe this model would be the one to get.

easyrider ; Thomastik Infeld are known for having more dynamic detail, have less tension and feel good under the finger as well as ou dont get that zing sound when sliding fingers up and down the strings. Why dont you trust Walnut easyrider ?! I can test this walnut guitar and return it if its really crap but it just could be just the tone Im after I think you made me wanna order that one even more now (I love unraveling mysteries) Vincent ; Nope, that one was CLA-16S ... was fine but not perfect as I would not be able to give away a "keeper" . Dont get me wrong that CLA16 is heck of a guitar and maybe would be a keeper if I tried , let say, Thomastik strings to get softer tension and more dynamics when finger picking. Im still thinking of maybe buying CLA-16 or CLA-15M and use the rest of the money for a Tremolo pedal or else I also need (maybe a good acoustic magnetic pickup). I have few more days to ponder until me money comes in.

What is the difference between 000 and Folk guitars ? Im looking at CLA-16S which is 000 and CLA-28V which is in the Folk guitar section! Which one is louder, is what I want to know? Would be nice to get something louder than the 000 and quieter (less boomy) than Dreanought.

Just read that Grand Auditorium is the size between Dread and 000 Auditorium. Could be a perfect size (tone) for me! And this one is made of Rosewood and Solid Spruce top.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

I have a worry with painted finish on an acoustic for a couple of reasons. It's hard to tell how thick that finish is and the guitar needs not to be straight jacketed if it is to resonate acoustically. Not resonating could, of course, be a blessing when using the saddle piezo. It also would worry me that paint would be a great excuse to use up bits of less than nice pieces of wood. Now this might only mean that they are visually unappealing rather than acoustically so and could be a good way to get a guitar with excellent solid woods at a better price...but it might not.
As for strings, I don't know whether my Suzuki Hummingbird would be just as happy sounding without them but I'm loving the electric guitar ones it's currently wearing for zing, bends and general lack of squeak. I can really hear the difference when recording it vs my Tanglewood or Japanese Chaser or my mate's Ovation. They all sound 'tight' when I want to be able to hear proper bends and subtle quarter bends.
I was always fascinated by Zappa's 'Sleep Dirt' sound and could never seem to get it. I can with the 'Hummingbird's' electric strings. But I don't think he used them.
EDIT> I just found these two little nuggets of info on Sleep Dirt. Apparently it was played on a Martin steel strung guitar with a classic-width neck = more finger room! Seems Frank was pretty happy with it too:
"SLEEP DIRT" was one of several disputed releases involved in the infamous Warner Brothers/Cohen Brothers law suit. The retail copies that eventually reached the marketplace were distinguished by unattractive covers, miserable disc mastering and non-existent promotion. Consequently, few fans have heard this cut. I seldom play acoustic guitar, and this performance (the only complete take from the session) is a rare example of a performance in this setting. The tune itself was composed in a hotel room in Stockholm, Sweden, sometime in November, 1971, as a result of borrowing the Martin guitar (owned then by Mark Volman) and experimenting on a day off during the tour. I eventually traded Mark a Telecaster for the Martin. It now sits unused in a dark corner of the studio."
Zappa said of it: in answer to the question, "You once said you never got a good studio solo. Do you even try studio solos anymore?"
"No. I'll make one exception. I think that maybe "Sleep Dirt," for all its imperfections, is a pretty nice little solo."
Maybe it's worth thinking about scale length too @chedapapa for the feel of tension in those strings?

Ok I get your point on painted guitars. will focus on the natural finish instead. I see the CLA28V has a shorter scale than the CLD41. Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't look at that aspect! Ok, still pondering ... easyrider doesn't trust Walnut for some reason. I would like to know why?
