Not sure how is that possible but Thomann has shipped the guitar this morning. I thought they are closed for the weekend? It must be that they have started working Saturday too because of high demand. Any way I should have the gear Monday then

Ok, the bass arrived today and .... I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED !!!!!!! The bass was not in tune out of the box and it certainly cant play on its own !!! I gotcha Seriously, the bass is in such great shape i still am trying to find whats wrong with it and since Im not a bass player I dont know what to look for. I mean my SC-550 came with 5 piece body and this one is a 2 piece ash body can you believe it?! Ok, photos; Here you see the letter "D" stamped into the base of the neck This is the only tiny dent I found at the back of the guitar which is no issue AT ALL and if this was the reason for Deko sale then Im sold on these Deko instruments I didnt know Harley Benton had serial numbers on bass guitars? They sure dont have them on el-guitars. By the way the tuners work just fine and feel very solid (so far) What a gorgeous bass people Ah, almost forgot to mention; the guitar came with all the clean film protection on the pickups and on the pickguard and control plate. And it came with new D'addario strings. The body is made of a very fine ash (I dare to think its a swamp ash) and as I mentioned earlier its a 2 piece body which is very surprising for HB instrument. I dont know how to set up a bass but so far the intonation is fine and the 12th fret shows 2mm which is a bit too low I think but the buzz is not of a huge issue since this is a bass. There is a bit fret buzz under the 12th fret on the low E mostly but with that I can live for now. The fret ends are not sharp. Both pickups work just fine and the pots work too. There is a hiss when I take my hand off the brindge which can be fixed with a Noise Gate. Very likely grounding issue. Im happy to say that my Digitech RP70 multi pedal can be used to play a bass, needs setting up the EQ but other than that I can play the bass via me headphones. Im yet to try ti on my Kustom amp designed for guitar (will be careful with the volume). This is a HUGE instrument and the frets are also huge, my fingers feel lost on this fret board (practice). I think thats it for now until I learn something and then off to record a video for your viewing pleassure

What a horrible bass! I mean, you must destroy it asap! In fact, I will pm you my address so you can send it to me and I will make sure it is dealt with in the correct way! Now seriously, it is beautiful, just a shame that such a nice bass should end up in the hands of a guitarist so you had better make sure you make us proud As far as setup, I believe I posted a great video on here somewhere, but I will check when I am back in front of a PC and repost if I didn't. Enjoy the new world that you have just entered.

And for grounding, check out the threads by blablas, I'm pretty sure he has posted about it, but I can explain if you like (its very easy and worth while, especially on jazz basses).

The standard Jazz Bass pickups are single coils, there will always be a little hiss, you can minimize it with proper shielding and grounding of all of the cavities but it will never go away completely. Only way to get rid of it is to put in split coils, but then you will loose the distinctive single coil Jazz sound.
Have fun with your new toy!!
