That Ibanez looks nice, ttmax. I remember you said you were thinking about this model in another discussion. Did it arrive today? You have received many new guitars recently. Maybe you will be buying more flowers for your wife this weekend

I'm a cheapskate and try to limit any guitar I buy to under £100 for used (usually closer to £50) and under £200 for new. I've never had anything that looked as bad as that Jatoba monstrosity. Of the twenty or so that I've owned only one went back and that was because of an actual design flaw in the bridge. An Ashton if anyone wants to avoid one. So that's what, a 5% rejection rate? Much more acceptable than the 10 in 12 returned to Thomann. What's that, about 85%? Stupid. My cheapest guitar probably cost me £40 after a refund for damage in transit. I now call it relicing so that's probably tripled its price . It is also my favourite workhorse guitar used for noodling, writing, recording and performing and last week a member of the audience who plays regularly in bands around Wales asked if it was a real Fender tele. He'd liked it so much it confirmed to him his thinking that he ought to get one. He already has a Jazzmaster and a Gretsch of some kind. His eyes were on storks when I told him it had cost me £40 from Cash Converters. The basics of getting an electric guitar right are simple enough and the modular nature of a Fender style build makes it even more so. I've never found a need for roller trees or split coils or low profile heels or roller saddles or any other things of that nature. I can play all over my £40 tele and enjoy whatever comes out of it. I did add Bill Lawrence switching to whatever pots and wire was inside it because I fancied seeing how useful it would be to remove a bit of bass from the neck and between positions and it is very useful and nice to have. But far from essential. I'm sure an EQ pedal would have been possibly more useful...but I'm a cheapskate and couldn't justify that cost either .... I'm sure you £40 tele is fantastic, and I'm really pleased to know you don't need roller string trees or split coil humbuckers. Also glad to hear your Bill Lawrence switching enables you to remove a bit of bass, I'm sure that's superb and allows you to do all the things you want. At the end of the day whether its jatobo, Blackwood, rosacer whatever they are made from. The fretboards on those CST's should never have got past QC. Nothing to do with being a cheapskate, just Thomann need to get a handle on QC both ends of the chain.

But the case in point was the ****ed fretboard, which however you wish to paint it should never have been sent to a customer cheapskate or not. A complete novice could look at that fretboard and deduce it should not be like that. Ibanez use jatoba fretboards on some models but I bet they don't get to a customer in the state of the HB ones in this thread. I would agree and the funny traces on the side of the headstock should not have passed either. It implies there was no check or it was strictly limited to function. Or that box was put on the wrong pile. You are probably right and no check took place. Also it could be as you say from the wrong pile, stranger things have happened at sea.

Two dozen? And she deserves each one. You must have your eye on another guitar. Maybe we can expect to see another new arrival looking something like this

When buy an HB and pay 120/130 euro you can accept small defects, but if you pay 225 euros and 20 shipping is in addition to those cosmetics you can find a keyboard as I found for 2 times and a non-functioning tremolo do not not acceptable at all. From all my Hb guitars, st-20 (two) one or two key tune was brocken st-65 is ok only little cosmetici defects te-52 as st-65 te-20 ho back body bad cut sc-500 3cm ding on the back cover manually with Black paint, cst 24 as st-65 plus 2mm ding on keyboard, sc 450+ bridge holes and paint near go out sc custom cosmetics defects cst 24t p90 for two time keyboard problem tremolo brocken and cosmetics defects to compare now have an ibanez grx70qa 159 euro on Thomann 166+20 It is certainly not that of s. Vay but is perfect aesthetic untill numer serial is stamp in good way no have cosmetics defects, no have hardware defect and play better than st-62 or te-20 the only that don't like me output Level of single coil to humbuckers. Client service send me rma must ho for second time to post office and no have Two lines of excuse, tell me why I should continue to buy from Thomann ? Freets are round and no cut Chinese ibanez factory are better ? For me yes !!! Wow that fretboard/frets looks awesome! Must look into some Ibanez if they are all that well made!

This looks very nice. The blue colour comes across better than on the Thomann site. I would almost be tempted, although probably not by the P90 version. Still, it's a nice finish and a good looking fingerboard.
I won't pass that occasion of repeating how disappointed I am with the black backs on the Fusion models. Yes, I know, my beloved Ibanez SA260FM has a black back itself, but it fits perfectly with that yellow to orange flame top. Not so for other colours. There it just looks like the cost saving measure it is. Maybe I would change my mind when seeing one for good, but I just love a glossy figured wooden back and that blue finish is pretty.
Ibanez do not have a good resale value, by the way. You get them between 40 and 60% of their new price on ebay, which is of course why I buy mine there.

In fact this is almost perfect, even the little man of control was already on his head on an Easter holiday. Fortunately, not on the guitar, but it was a bit confusing with the packaging, I presume it has swapped the top of the packaging (I have the same serial number as that made), I'm sure because the guitar is different (I notice it from the imperfections on the bindig that now there are no more polystyrene (as always broken) that I glued before making the return. Obviously only for the record, I am happy that this time everything is ok. I know that Ibanez devalues, but I think it's always worth more than a hb, am I wrong? Instead I'm seriously thinking back to the choice of sa260fm, in fact I don't like the body in okoume (poor mahogany) although not so if I could detect the differences. I don't know if it's crazy, but I set my sights on Ltd te-200, it costs a little more, but it has a nice clean look and then it becomes a monster, maybe too metallic for me, while I meditate. P. S. Your ibanez ssh in pos 5,4,3 is totally different to fender stratocaster?

I’ve had two different but extremely similar ESP LTD guitars and they are excellent instruments in my experience.
As for their resale value I couldn’t comment. I think Leo Thunder’s tactic of waiting on EBay for a bargain is a good idea if you can play the long game.
