If this amp really sounds lovely clean with a Start as in this video I am buying one like yesterday! ... and the OD ed sound also sounds awesome! Im looking to get an amp I could use for rehearsals and maybe gigs too (in case I succeed to find a band). I kind of gave up on transistor amps but after listening to this WOW this just might be the one for me! It sounds crap with Les Paul but with those single coils it sings! Why should I NOT buy this amp? (yes Im asking you)

Well it has some really good sounds and the power modes are very handy as is the direct out.
But I don’t think the sound quality does compare to valve, but it’s not like the sound of the Katana is bad.

BTW I would only use cleans on it and the Delay Reverb and other FX. I would not use the onboard Distortion! The OD on it sounds good though! This is my clean crunchy tone anyways so I might just use it!

I think that the 100W version has an FX loop and a foot switch?
I guess what I’m saying is what does it have over your bugera?

Over my tiny 8" speaker Bugera 5 Watts Well, has lots of watts, 12" speaker, FX Loop, Lots of FX to choose from, attenuation from 0,5 - 50 - 100 Watts, onboard 3 way EQ + all the extra tone twisting in the Tone Lab, Recording Out, etc ... It is a very good amp for my needs both for recording stuff via the Rec. Out and for rehearsals and even gigging. The new Katana Artist series has a better speaker but hey I can always buy another speaker and put it in!

Is there a tube power amp on a Katana? If not what is an attenuator doing?

Is there a tube power amp on a Katana? If not what is an attenuator doing? No tubes but a “pre” gain and volume and a “master” volume. Iirc the manual says it sounds best with the master dimed and the gain/volume adjusted to your sound. Having gone from tube to a 50W Katana back to tube I’m just a little skeptical that it’s the best thing to do.

No tubes in this one! But it is MADE to REACT like a TUBE amp when you manipulate the Master and other knobs. So if you want to crank up the Master volume or Gain it will get darn loud on 100 watts setting and not so if you switch it to 0,5 watts. You get the same tone but on a more bedroom friendly level.

Yes there are some negative reviews on the Katana 50 but I'm yet to find a negative review for the 100 Watt amp. You Marting had the 50 watts like saltee dog right?

@chedapapa I'm quite happy with my 50 but the 100 is a better option if you want something that will pretty much cover you for all eventualities (the fx loop in particular).
Most of the negative tone related comments are from folks who find it a bit harsh straight out of the box (same applies to a lesser extent to the 100). The speaker really needs to be broken in. Also users need to get used to the EQ controls ...
The biggest complaint about the Katana is that the pc software can be fiddly if you have a computer that doesn't want to cooperate. It's mostly due to the fact that Boss uses Adobe air as one of the software components. Air is fiddly and Windows seems to object to it sometimes.
Fundamentally the Katana is a Swiss army knife. It does loads of things really well but you will always be able to find another one-trick-pony amp that nails a particular tone better. The Katana clean channel is where I live most of the time. With the on-board blues driver or fuzz it dirties up really well. Also ans you noticed the Katana really brings out the character of different guitars and pickups. Good tones with Humbuckers are in there but they need to be dialed in very differently to single coils.
