Be carefull Jeff, although the Fame can deliver a nice but grainy clean sound, it does it only at low lvl as you only have a volume pot ( 5F1 clone .... ), and the crunch can come quickly if your guitar has a big output.... the magic in the box comes from its dynamic, you can so easely swap between clean and crunch just by playing the guitar !
On the other hand, the V22 delivers a very nice clean and is featured with two channels you can handle with the footswitch
For information, the V55 circuit is a copy of the Peavey Classic 50. But the v22 is a bit different, somewhat Voxy, and sometimes more Fender Silverface, depending on how you set it

Sounds like you’re GASsing pretty hard man, just make sure you take enough time to consider it, trying one out if you can.

Sounds like you’re GASsing pretty hard man, just make sure you take enough time to consider it, trying one out if you can. Oh man, Im right up there in the GAS heaven (or is it Hell) with DefJef at the moment! Can't decide what my priority is! Do I want more guitars or do I want to focus on creating my music! Im still undecided if Im to invest so much money into Phat Cat pups to upgrade this Dynamic guitar as I have two very usable and fine sounding guitars already, and instead focus on getting my self some pedals I can use, some bass guitar, or Sub'n'Up, a keyboard or EHX C9 to spark ideas, the new Mooer Looper n Drum pedal so I can practice layering my riffs and getting more done rather than just noodling with my riff and never coming up with anything behind it or atmospheric ... etc ... I have given up on the idea to get another amp as my Bugera V55 is enought for now. All I need is a better microphone for recording it as my old one is distorting a bit. ... I really need to re-visit my "Getting My Shoit Together" thread ...

Srew other musicians mate! (except you) I need to focus on making music and with those musicians I dealt with nothing much would happen but a big effin headacke!
I need something else to get my cretivity going. My guitar riffs are fine but I need something else sound wise to be able to work on lets say vocal melodies or just try and figure out the entire track. Im seriously considering that EHX C9 as with that one I can do more than with a proper keyboard which I dont know how to play. A shorty bass guitar could do well but then i would need some sort of bass pedal so Sub'n'Up would be a better choice for me as I would only use it to build the demo and I could even use it for sub up and/or down for guitar playing (fine pedal). This new Mooer 20 minutes Looper also has a Drum machine. This too would expand my possibilities (not the most versatile drum machine but still better than nothing). I could always change the time sigs later in the process when I hand you over the track.
I can't have the Dynamic just hanging there or being hidden in the box as I will keep thinking about it and will have the urge to buy pickups for it! I hate having unfinished projects in my home! Best would be to sell it and buy stuff i actually need to inspire music making! If I need a bucker guitar then get a 20/21 fret guitar with 2 humbuckers and rather than having to buy 3 pickups etc ... Bottom line is; I DO HAVE 2 fantastic sounding guitars and very versitile too.

I would say get a DAW and a decent program, but given your hatred for all things digital I don't think it's a good fit for you.
I am finally happy with my guitars, the LTD. with the 5 way ultra switch is just a dream guitar, my modded MS-60VW has it's own peculiar charm, my DIY Tele has that Tele Bridge thing going for it, the neck is nice but I prefer the neck in my LTD. perhaps unsurprisingly. Tempted to go for a normal Tele neck.
There was never anything wrong with the Laney, I think the only way I'd change it would be if I could get a really nice all tube amp (Rectifier as well as pre/power amp), but I don't really know if that's that much better or just one of those guitarist things "You have to have all tube man, it's the only way to get the best tone".
Pedal wise however I can see myself accumulating pedals again at some point, have my eye on the Oceans 11 reverb and a Carbon Copy deluxe or some other spanky analogue delay. I might get some kind of Mod. pedal, dunno. Drive, distortion and fuzz wise I'm happy though.

Ho, ho, ho there mate I must appologise if I came across as a hater of all things digital, as thats not the case. I had a fair share of digital gadgets and some are very decent like the Bassman '59 amp+4x10" cab sim on my old Digitech RP255 and I loved the tone of the VST called HELIAN AMPS for my old bass guitar. Some stuff is just awesome, so I dont hate anything. I try and I listen and evaluate if thats doing it for me or not. I tried defjef's Katana and I didn't like it. Maybe its the pickups in his guitars or maybe its the Katana. I certainly couldn't feel the magic at all. His Fender amp was better but still lacked even if I usued my CKK Lunar Drive into it. Maybe its the pickups in his guitars or maybe its the solid state part of that amp. So nothing digital there really What Im saying is , two things really ; One! any sound that inspires me is a great sound/tone, digital or analog. Two! DefJef get a Bugera V22 amp mate ... ah not to forget, my beloved MOOER Reecho Pro is a digital delay pedal and there is no otheer pedal in that price range or even a bit above that has all the features this one has and the tone is pristine Glad we cleared up this one

Yeah oghkhood Fame is VERY Champy in design but I'm used to playing using the guitar controls for level and tone. Thanks for the warning though. I know I don't need it but...but... I feel that V22 push and my shoes don't have much grip! THe EL84s would be nice and I guess I could replace the 12AX7s with lower gain 12AU7s if I wanted a change. Or bias down a bit. Very flexible, I agree, although it doesn't have the attenuator that the V5 has but it does have that triode/pentode switch. Oh gawd. Go away Bugera! According to the embedded Bugera attenuator : I had ordered a T5 ( Lil Night Train copy so ... ) that also featured this 5/1/0,5w switch ...
Well I was very disappointed by this, as be it switch or pot, the result is the same and the lowering of the power is at the cost of a huge loss of highs and even more in dynamics.... this said it was a nice little 5w Voxy head, but I already had the fame, so I returned it

There is no reason to have the attenuator on the V22 or anyother amp having Channel and Master Volumes. I play and record using bedroom volume on my Bugera V55 while my little boy is sleeping 2 rooms away from where I play. If you have a nice sounding OD pedal you good to go even if playing very quiet.

That's the way it should be, yes, and I doubt the power stage is meant to break up at all anyway. I know this is what some do (I think AC/DC were known to do this) but my understanding is that the pre-amplification stage is what normally shapes the sound, including the whole range of overdrive, from initial break up to full distortion, unless this is done even before the amp in some pedal.
I'm sure there are more intricacies, though, with amplifiers behaving in different ways.

DefJef why V5 ? Its too quiet and when cranked its just a boom box Shure if you get a 12" cab and an EQ pedal you are certainly getting somewhere. You can hear my P90 guitar played into a miced Bugera V5 in our Cat is on the Roof track. Nice creamy sizzling tube sound right there and this is the 8" Blue Turbosound speaker! Sure my good old NUX Drive Core and its Bass Boost knob did help get this tone ... and those fine old days Wilkinson P90's too https%3A//soundcloud.com/papa-dusko/the-cat-is-on-the-roof-staring-at-the-moon-finished-track
