I just got off the phone with Thomann customer service.
The investigation on my guitar started on June 24th and we need to wait 60 days to declare it officially lost.
At that point a refund will be issued.
Sid from customer service said other customers have been reordering their guitars and getting them in hand via UPS within a week. Then if the DHL guitar arrives they just send it back ( at Thomann's cost) and a refund is issued. Or if the DHL guitar is declared lost they get a refund too.
I had the option to do this but unfortunately the guitar I ordered is out of stock and not due back in stock till Sept.
So i decided to just wait the remainder of the 60 day wait period and when August 24th comes and the guitar has still not arrive will get my refund.
Sid was honest and feels that at this point it's not going to arrive and is probably lost. Additionally we discussed the shape it's going to be in with the 100+ degree temps in a container even if it does arrive. However if it does arrive and is totally trash and warped i can send it back
It's good to know UPS is now working fine for them so i wouldn't hesitate to order from them in the future.

Took receipt of an HB SC-550 I ordered on last Friday (July 7/24) and received yesterday afternoon (Mon, 7/27). Astonishing, just 72 hrs for delivery from Germany to Maryland, USA!
I was quite ready to pull the trigger last March just when Covid hit badly here in the US. I waited, only to see each guitar I had on my wish list go quickly from in stock to out-of-stock. Along with shipping prices also quickly going from ~$36 to $48 then briefly over $100 (all, I believe with DHL/USPS).
I'm content that Thomann has now gone with UPS as a carrier and delivery of ~$64 (one guitar and gig bag). Slightly higher than I would've liked but in this unique time of Covid-19, I am not complaining--- as I know many of you have been anxiously for weeks for delivery. I really empathize with you.... these are really difficult times for many of us and it's often only our music that sustains us most days....
I ordered a Desert Flame SC-500 and luckily (yes, luckily) waited a day too late as it too, became out-of-stock the day I was prepared to order it--- only to find a B stock available for almost $50 cheaper. After taking a few minutes to research people's highly positive feedback on purchasing B stock guitars, I decided to finally pull the trigger. Got it in 3 short days and couldn't be happier.
Now there are a few very minor blemishes--- on the fret board, tiny marks on the binding and a strange honeycomb-type pattern (?) on the back of the guitar under the finish (so can't be buffered out). No fret sprouts and tuners work fine. Playability = great! There is really no major visible damage and am generally very happy with this purchase from Thomann. Kudos to them!
My next subsequent HB guitar orders will all be B stock, I'm pretty sure.....

Nice surprise today. My Bass has been delivered! Box was in great shape. Bit opened and torn and the guitar was intact no issues!!
Don't know how to post any photos so just trust me on this.
Now I feel like a real member of this club and can start reading and posting in other threads!

Well, at long last I got an email a couple of days ago from Thomann stating that DHL had declared my guitar as lost. They asked if I wanted a refund or to ship another guitar. Since the CST-24 P90 I had ordered was in stock and I wanted the guitar anyway, I told them ship it with UPS. Now I've got tracking information from UPS saying that my guitar will arrive on Thursday. Can't wait to get my hands on it!

Been out of the loop for a bit. I wanted to order two HB's. Then I saw the shipping for 2 guitars: $105 ? What happened to their shipping???

I'm thinking they can't offer the cheaper DHL shipping, especially if you live in the US. I did receive the 2nd guitar they shipped pretty quickly, and exactly when the tracking said I would receive it. The shipping isn't cheap for the UPS option, but whatever it is you'll wanna pay it if you live in the states. Either that or you can risk getting your guitar stuck in US Customs and maybe even lost, which is what happened to the first one they shipped me.
All that said though, I would absolutely buy another one with the UPS shipping option. My ocean blue CST-24T P90 showed up in pristine condition. That color is really beautiful. In darker light it almost looks like a greenish blue, but the blue really pops once you get some light on it. I took the strings off and immediately put fretboard conditioner on it. Put some 9s back on it to replace the 10s it came with, but now will have to loosen the truss rod and get some relief back in the neck. The trem is pretty tight too, but will be loosening it after I adjust the truss rod. The only other thing I plan to do is put locking tuners on it.

Been out of the loop for a bit. I wanted to order two HB's. Then I saw the shipping for 2 guitars: $105 ? What happened to their shipping??? There was this little thing called a global pandemic. The US government imposed a restriction on air traffic from Europe. Goods normally go in the hold of passenger flights and with no US bound passenger flights there was a major back log. DHL got swamped and suspended service for a short while. The stuff that did get over the Atlantic piled up at US arrivals while US Custom gave priority to medical supplies. Other couriers like UPS and FedEx saw a golden chance at more profits so hiked their prices, this was helped by USPS withdrawing from the Universal Postal Union and jacking up their prices too. Thomann had to raise their shipping to the US price to cover the increased costs.

I've seen it as low as $65 and as high as $150 for 2 guitars to the US. Either way it's more than DHL, but it's 2 days instead to 2 weeks (or months, or years).

SC-450 Plus ordered in 14 May, Thomann said it made it here to the US, and it just disappeared into some bureaucratic hell-hole. After a couple of months, I ordered a TE-20 to mod and a couple of short-scaled gits for my young boys. They came from Thomann to my farm in Indiana in SIX DAYS, albeit at a much higher UPS rate. Problem now is getting the lazy Thomann customer service people to square up with me on the lost order. I know they are probable slammed, but they can take the time to remind me of how busy they are and the OMGGCOVIDGLOBALPANDEMIC and blah-blah-blah. What I cannot get them to do is add a guitar to my replacement, put the order in, and take my American dollars.
