I doubt that is a new headstock. I imagine the factory supplies guitars for other brands too. Those look like they could be Agiles. Also looking at the photos of the process, prior to the last stage the veneer looks to be very pale. So where does the colouring happen? Is that a colour in the primer or something? Regarding the mystery guitar in the video that has us all befuddled. Didn't the guy say he intended to make the shape more Gibson correct? I presume he had already filed the horn to suit his preference. Finally, fair plays to Lasse for responding with such detail. Lasse mentioned 5 coats of 'primer' and then 4 of 'lacquer'. It seems the 'primer' is a clear coat and the colour is in the 'lacquer'? You're right about the shape. The guy who made this video already mentioned in another thread that that he was reshaping the headstock and discovered this whilst reshaping the horn.

I thought a poster on here claimed ownership of that video, in another thread? Is it just an attempt to discredit HB because there lots of anomalies in the video that don't add up.
I'm inclined to believe the video is a hoax or poor joke.

Now, there's a headstock shape I would be happy with. It is thinner and harmonises with the curves of the rest of the guitar. Well done. I also prefer the Epiphone headstock to the original Gibson, for the same reason.

Here is a video from same guy with the 450 ld it looks a different guitar (lower horn) than in the stripped finish video. I believe LeoThunder asked questions and got no reply? Seems like some kind of wind up to me.

Seems like some kind of wind up to me. That's an SC Custom with the same pick-ups I had. He said in the comment section two weeks ago that he just got an SC-450 Plus with Roswells and likes the Wilkinsons better. That explains the new logo on the headstock of the one he reworked but not what he found on its body.

Is johnnyatm and ajbcc2 the same poster?
Apologies LeoThunder I stand corrected 😁.
It just seems strange someone drops a hand grenade of a post! then does not post any further proof of it being plastic?
All seems fishy, surely there are legal issues either way?

The photographs provided by Lasse show a model that as far as I am aware we have not seen before. The author of the video in question may or may not come forth with more details but can we maybe curb our enthusiasm a little and not allow the situation to descend into a witchhunt? Thank you.

I'm wondering if the term "lacquer" simply means topcoat or color finish in this production report, and not actually referring to the chemical formula of a paint type. None of my HB's have traditional lacquer on them, at least no lacquer that I have ever experienced before.
I guess there may be a poly-lacquerethane-ish paint going on. What's that piano paint, something like a poly-lacquer. It's high build, hard, black... Placquer (plastic lacquer). Hmm.
Great set of production photos. Makes me want to build something, just not in those numbers.

I won't dare to speak for other's, from my own perspective I don't believe anyone wants a witch hunt. I would be very grateful to know if HB's are what Thomann say they are? A video like this casts doubt into my making further purchases of HB Guitars. It's bit of a hot potato to say the least. I would just like the truth so I can have confidence in what I might purchase.
