Hi guys, I actually have an old Vox VT120 but don't use it any more. Can't be sold so it has become some deko amp And my usual amp is a blackstar ID60 TVP which needs some repair on the USB slot. Yesterday I've ordered a Joyo Zombie head.

There is nice amp hiss (warm sounding) and unbearable (sharp) hiss. I dont mind Bugera's hiss but still try to move the mik away from the center of the speaker, a bit off axes so to pick up as less of hiss as possible.

My main amps are a 67 Dumble, Matchless 30 and a 50 watt Marshall Plexi..........on Bias FX 😎 My real world amps are a red stripe Bandit and a Kustom tube12 gathering dust.

Sounds like a good plan spacelord77. My hiss is unconnected to the volume. It's there the minute the amp comes on and doesn't change no matter what settings are selected. When I complained to Blackstar they said it was a 'feature of the amp'. Sadly they hadn't mentioned this feature in any of their advertising. Wonder why? Seems a shame for them to just give it away without asking for any credit!

I have been experiencing some issues with the effects, i have specific setting that i like to use for leads, but the minute i touch the volume or any other knob/button on the amp its changes from manual mode to preset. Oh, and do not update your amps firmware, i´v heard that some amps have gone completely dead after an update!(at lest on the first version that i have) There are clearly issues with the ID:core series that Blackstar have not addressed correctly. Shame since its a nice sounding amp. I am eying on a secondhand Boss Katana to replace the Blackstar.

This was happening to my VOX VT20+ and was the very reason me sending it back to Thomann Good luck with your modeling amps folks! Im staying with tubes for as long they exist and are legal to buy! Nothing nicer then a stomp box infront of a tube amp!

Then again, I can't bear hooking up an amp to a computer most of the time so the gremlins can't get in (or out). For this reason the Katana may also not be for me. I've got one but it's not floating my boat entirely in the way that my Fender Champ does. Then again it was bought as a kind of do-it-all amp and even a foldback monitor so it has to do a lot of heavy lifting for me. Like most Swiss Army knives, it is OK at doing a lot of things but not brilliant at doing many of them. But for the money it astonishingly good value - especially second hand for the 70 odd pounds that I paid for it.

Does your Blackstar hiss like a snake spacelord77 ? I miked mine yesterday to record and the hiss made it unusable. I did a test on my IDcore 40 yesterday with the volume turned halfway up and did not notice any hiss on mine. I have the first version of the amps, and have not done any firmware updates to it, since i fear it might kill the amp if things go wrong... Do you have the V.1 or V.2?

It's V.1. spacelord77 . It's the second one I've had. I sent the first one back after days of trying it in different rooms and even different houses because of it, but the second one was the same so I contacted Blackstar and they said it was a 'feature' of these amps. You'd better send yours back if they've left the 'feature' off! . You're very lucky. In comparison I have a Katana 50 set up in my lounge which is usually about a metre from my ear when I'm lying on my sofa and I regularly leave it accidentally switched on all day and overnight because it is so quiet I forget it's on. My Blackstar would never allow me to do that. The opposite in fact. I can remember thinking I'd left a gas ring open on the stove and sniffing the air and making sure I didn't switch a light switch on in case I blew the house up, only to discover it was my Blackstar set up in the dining room using it's 'feature'.

Same happens to me! I noticed yesterday when I got home that I had left my Katana on all day and night.
My Marshall MG15CF is hissy as hell though.

About amp tech. I quite like the Melvins for a bit of heavy stuff once in a while and Buzzo uses all metal guitars and solid state amps, his pedal setup is really sparse too.
